Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 35/40 hybrid and lag

i just replaced my stock turbo with a 35/40 hybrid,nonwastgated,truck is a different animal now ,pulls alot harder once spooled but at say 45 mph with a light throttle this thing smokes like a train ... passed someone driving 45 tonight and the truck in back of me just about went off the road trying to avoid the smoke(pucker) i know a smarty will spool it sooner but wont that just add to my smoke??more fuel down low,with the comp off i get about 27 pob and i am waiting on a new boost gauge for 5x4 ... i believe i am around 38 pob... . HOW do i spool this thing quicker???

What exhaust housing do you have? I hope it's a 16cm non-gated if so go 14cm wastegated. . or you can find stock HX-35 try the factory 12cm wastegated exhaust housing. Let me know if i can help how did the 4" exhaust work out for you?

sounds great and dropped egts ,how do i tell what housing i have... bought used

If you e-mail me a picture i could tell you. If you had the turbo off you could look inside the flange there a number about 1" inside. 12cm 14cm 16cm or 18cm could be 21cm Send me a picture Thanks Olee

Really? I thought my stock turbo w/ 'gated 12 was a real choke point with even a #10 plate and my 4. 10 gears. He has 4. 10s as well.
