:) Well, I had the much talked about TSB done on the dually last week, and have been curious about what the results would be. I filled up today after getting off the freeway after work. It was about 90% freeway driving (if you can call these parking lots freeways). The usual MPG on this truck was 14 to 14. 5 empty. Todays hand caculated total was 16. 0 MPG. Needless to say I was pleased with the extra MPG, but there is a "wait and see" attached.

My truck before would pull normally as I accelerated from a stop, or in any gear until I hit about 1600 RPM. Then the truck would jump and you could really feel the torque coming on. Now, I have noticed a difference. I no longer have that kick at 1600 RPM. :( Not such a big deal empty, but I tend to tow heavy a lot. I haven't towed since I had it done, so I can't say honestly if there will be a difference or not. Logic would say that if the MPG went up, there is a good chance that I am now dumping less fuel into the mix. Since these trucks are all computerized, it was just a new software package that was loaded into the ECM. The only draw back is there is no turning back. I did note that the EGT's are a little lower (about 100* under throttle) so if all else fails, I guess I can put a box or injectors in it. I guess it's true that "there is no free lunch". Sarge

The TSB for white smoke, overhead computer correction, and 1 MPG fuel increase. I specific number I would have to look for. Found it. TSB 018-037-04.

Sarge, this is the same thing I have noticed after getting the TSB. The drive ability off the bottom end seems to have improved but at the cost of the top end. Like you, I'll have to wait and see how she feels on our next trip with the trailer. If it has lost the oomph it had before the reflash, I guess I'll just have to get the new Edge box. I'm sure that by next spring it'll be out. Although injectors would be sweet also.

Yeh, but the way fuel prices are going, the lesson might end being cheaper in the long run if the trucks do end up getting better fuel mileage. And if it has lost a little power due too the flash, just more incentive to go buy a box. Which I was thinking of doing any way. That new Edge Juice/Atttitude box sure looks nice.
