3500 GVWR Single vs. Dually

I can't seem to find the towing capacities on the single rear wheel 3500. I can find the Dually all day long. Looking to buy an 05 but not sure which one to get. TIA.

My '04 305/555 SRW 2wd is rated at 14,200 lbs trailer weight... but I'd have to have the truck EMPTY to 'legally' tow it.



GVWR is 9,900



Gross tow rating is 14,200



GCVW is 21,200 (I know this is not exact but I can;t remember the number off the top of my head. )

Here is the towing guide for the 2004 models. The 2005 should be the same or slightly higher capacity. If anyone can get an electronic copy of the 2005 towing guide, I'll post it on my website too.

Here is a link to the 2005 guide. You have to go through the whole build and price to get the exact tow rating. The SRW 4x4 LWB Cummins with 3. 73 has a tow rating of 13,750, 4. 10 gears up it to 15,750, 4x2 ups it to 16,300. The DRW is 300 less in either gearset. This is the weight of the extra tires and fenders I guess.
