So what is the differance or is there just a production differance? I have a early production 3500 06 Megacab getting ready to put a rearend out of a 06 4dr 2500 I thought they would be the same but when they are side by side the center section is totally different. Axle tubes brakes ECT... all appear to be the same. Width spring spacing ect all the same. Thanks

Better make sure the donor axle is not out of a gasser. There should be no differences in the SRW axles in the diesels, they were all supposed to be AAM 11. 5 axle. If one was a dually axle then you might see differences.

I have noticed that the 11. 5AAM has changed the pumpkin design a little. Earlier models used to have a 4" wide lip on the bottom. My 2007 has a 1" wide lip at the bottom. I don't know why the casings are different.

Exactly. During MY06 they changed the Dodge casting to the same one GM has used since day one. The guts/tubes/etc didn't change, the axles are also rated the same.

If it has a 11. 5" ring gear it's still an AAM 11. 5. If it has a 10. 5" ring gear its from a hemi.

View attachment 80200Well both rears are out of SRW diesel trucks both are 11. 5 ring gears everything is the same just the center section is differant. I will try to post pics. You can see one has ribs the other doesnt as I said the rest is the same the inside, axle tubes ,brakes just caught me off guard seeing them on the floor. On another note the rear I pulled has 515K the inside was spotless looks great inside make me wonder how much farther it would have gone. All bearings are origanal.

The lower pic is the one out of my 06 Mega it was built in Nov 05 one of the first built. It looks heavyer to me. As good as it has been maybe I should have it rebuilt.

This is correct. The DRW casting changed design as well.

Paranoia... . LOL I figured 515k had to be pushing it and it needed axle seals and brakes. Plus the fact I had a rearend with 9k miles sitting in my shop. Now Im thinking about re bearing it as good as its held up.
