3500 single rear wheel trucks gone?

I was at the Dodge web site and couldn't specify the single rear wheel option. Sent Dodge and email and they just responded with this:



Dear Kenneth:



Thank you for your email regarding the 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Heavy Duty Pickup.



At this time, the 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Heavy Duty Pickup Trucks is only available with a dual-rear axle.



Should a single-rear wheel axle become available for this vehicle, your dealer will be notified.



In the meantime, we suggest consulting your local Dodge dealer to obtain additional vehicle information, pricing, as well as schedule a test drive.



Anyone know if this is a permanent change? I saw a 3500 single rear wheel at the local dealer Sunday night. Went back to look at it tonight and find out what equipment it had on it. See Dodge web site thread for the story. Lord give me the strength to resist temptation!!!!

Ken- are you trying to get a SRW 3500 in a standard cab? That is NOT available, but the site shows 3500 Quad-cabs available in 2x4 and 4x4 SWB and LWB.



It's QC or nothing for 3500 SRW's.

Jheimerl, I tried all cab configurations in the build your own truck area and although it says that they can be bought in the words there is no option listed for single rear wheels on any configuration. This is what prompted me to write to Dodge. I will check with the dealer tomorrow and see if it is a temporary restriction or they are no longer available period. Ken Irwin

Hmmm, funny- I'm pretty sure I own one!

I read a post somewhere that you have to build a dually and then select "Dual rear wheel delete" to get a 3500 SRW.

I'm not sure though- I just bought mine off the lot.

Ken- maybe it's something in your browser, but when I go there using Explorer 5. 2 on a Mac, it shows me the pictures of the SRW trucks and DRW trucks in each category Quad 2x and 4x4 3500. So I'm baffled... but I'm sure they are available.



BTW, since we are almost neighbors, you can't go wrong talking to Fred Wilkins at Starr Motors in Suffolk. A rare breed in car/truck sales. Totally knows his product, no pressure or hype. I'd buy again from Fred anytime. And probably will in the spring. They have a fair number of Cummins on the lot for a smaller dealer.



And he didn't even pay me to say this!

Single rear wheels are option AR9 on at least 3500 4x4 and 4x2 long beds. That is the only two I checked. It is a credit option of about $1000. 00 on the truck.

This is the trick

Thanks to DIESELMAN hers how to trick the website into allowing you to select the SRW option. After you select the options on the option page click on continue after you select the color go back to the options list and the SRW option suddenly appears. Thanks Dieselman Ken Irwin
