Ok here are a few of my findings. The power was great. I was towing a trailer that can be seen in my gallery with a GCVW of 17,300lbs. Some things I did may not have been the best for my truck but I wanted to see how far I could go.

BD3's, B1 Quickspool turbo and Edge Comp set at 1X5

Cruising at 75mph on flat road - Boost avg was 9. 5 to 11. 5 with egt's avg 840F pre turbo.

Strong headwind of 30+mph boost was 19pounds avg with egt's at 895F to 925F.

I pulled 6% grades in 6th gear with no loss of speed with boost at 32 pounds normally but 34 pounds max. Egt maxed at 1170F.

7% grades were also ok but usually had a really steep incline toward the top which the truck did not like. The way it acted I am feeling that I was running out of fuel. It would start to shutter and jerk if I kept into it. I have a fuel pressure gauge which unfortunately is not installed yet. On a grade like that at the top boost is still maxed at 34pounds and egt's got to 1270 max but I downshifted after a few seconds of max temp just to make sure I hit the max. On the steepest of grades I could go in 5th gear with max egt at 1050F, boost at 26pounds and holding steady at 55mph.

The biggest problem was as I said running out of fuel (I think) and coolant temps.

On 6% of 4 miles or longer the coolant temps would rise making more of an issue than egt's. Holding 1150F for a few miles started to warm it up pretty good. Normally it would reach about 205 but when pulling over 5 mile grades with steep incline toward top (where egt hit 1270) it started climbing fast from 205 to 220 and I got out of it even though egt was not rising anymore.

I must say that my coolant system may not quite be up to par as the radiator is heavily infested with bugs. I need to remove it and power wash it but this could definitely be a cause to part of the cooling temps. This is all I can think of or now but feel free to ask me any specific questions.

BTW I never, NEVER had boost drop off on me in any situation in any gear. It was quit nice.

AVG mileage was 11. 3 mpg which is down from 13. 2 with similar load with stock injectors and turbo. Calculated by miles/gallons not the overhead computer. Guess that's the price you pay for performance. Actually I don't think its that bad for the HP I'm running. I don't tow that often so I am very happy with the overall setup whether towing or eating ricers :D

EDIT: Yes this should have been in the Towing and Hauling Forum but alot of people in this forum were curious about the BD3's and the B1 and how they responded together. Move it if need be.

Do you have the BD tubo mount exhaust brake?

How does the B-1 spool-up compared to the HX35? More or less smoke off the line?

Thanks, Jeff

I've noticed the same thing with my Bully Dog III's a heavy load and the Comp hooked up like an ez. I don't think its running out of fuel, might be too much timming. Anyone know why it does this. Its can be worst with the wire hooked up.

I have the BD 4" inline. The B1 is comparable to the HX35 on initial boost (a little slower) but once she gets going its off to the races.

I don't know if its more smoke or not because I installed the injector's at the same time I did my turbo. The thing I really like about the B1 is that cool down time is none existent, even coming off a long highway trip when I pull in the driveway she is ready to shut down.
