i have some wrangler mtr's on order and i was wondering how the 4:10s will be with the size. how much low end am i going to loose and much more will the engine have to work at highway speeds. any info or experience with this set up would be cool. no mods except gauges.

Since no one has commented yet, I'll tell you my opinion even though I don't have your truck set up.

If your not lifted I think you're going to rub the fenders and the upper control arms.

I've only run that large of tire on a gasser truck but it had 4:10s. It was a great match! You'll always lose some low end and mpg with each increase in tire diameter but with cummins power and a manual trans, i think it will be minimal, particularly with 4:10s. UNLESS you tow heavy frequently.

You may notice you need to relearn the rate you lift the clutch pedal.

I'd personally be more concerned with rubbing and my suspension handling the extra unsprung weight and if i towed heavy I'd opt for a bit smaller shoe.

37's look really sweet on your truck. I've ridden in just one 3rd gen with what appears to be your set up and 37's and the owner actally said the extra diameter seemed to smooth out the torque curve. I can kinda understand that, although what he was really feeling is the slight loss of low end your worried about. the truck did not seem to labour at all. I liked it.

Good luck, jeff

I believe with no lift and oem wheels = Will not work, IIRC the 37" tire is larger than a 315 right? and 315's rub on stock wheels with no lift.

KORE has a new suspension system coming out called the technical or something close that is supposed to allow 37's on oem wheels. I think it will raise the trucks 4 inches.

It will be $$$$ but very cool and probably super strong.

I Have A 2004. 5 And I Put The 2" Kit In The Front And I Run 35" Bfg M/t And Have No Problem. No Rubbing And Rides Nice , Your Miles Per Gallon Will Go Down A Little, You Will Not Fit 37 's With Out Somekind Of A Lift Kit

i have a chase system coming and the fiberglass fenders so not thinkin about rubbing, just wondering how the 37"s were going to after the rpms and lower end, might have to use 1st now. i'll try and post some pics after install.

With these taller tires what gear are you folks using to get moving from a complete stop?

My 03 with stock tires takes off in 2nd gear great when unloaded. If loaded even a bit heavy I use 1st to get the truck moving simply to save the clutch some wear and tear.

I am wanting taller tires partly because my 4:10s and stock tires wind up quickly on the highway. But I am sort of wanting to stick with something that lets me use 2nd gear for taking off when empty.
