2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Tire wear question

OK, who let the 1st gen owner into the 2nd gen forum? :D

Got a ? for you? Can you buy JUST the nozzle and insert for the 370 injectors and if so, who sells them? Since I would have to change out the upper body and springs/shims, etc. anyway, I'm wondering if I can juy just the nozzles? I'm trying to take this old girl to well over 300 RWHP. She's close now (I'm guessing 275+). I just want to give her that last little nudge.

Thanks for any info.

What are you doing in the 2nd gen section? Just kidding a lot of great info in here too. I don't know if you can only get nozzles or you have to purchase the whole thing. I have 370's in my pickup, but I bought the whole assembly then tore them down to get the right parts to fit a first gen. Hopefully someone can answer your question.

1st gen non-intercooled have larger tip diameters than later 12V's. There is an adapter washer used to allow later model injector tips to fit early heads. I can't say what'll make more HP, POD's or 370's, but I don't see any 2nd gens using POD's. City Diesel has 370's in the 300. 00 range (the entire injector). There doesn't seem to be anything different in the bodies except for the fuel line threads. JLeonard and I compared his 1st gen injectors to my 2nd gen injectors and they're similar except for the fuel line threads and tips.

The injector nzzles are the same between 1st gen and 2nd gen injectors. The only differences are the fuel line threads and the pop pressure (245 barr vs 260 barr).

I want to stay away from PODs due to their 4 hole design with an actual pocket in the tip around the nozzle hole. This causes them to "dribble" which is responsible for alot of the smoke.

370s flow a little less (very little) than 370s but they have a 5 hole nozzle which is going to help with fuel atomization alittle better.

Thanks for the discussion so far. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd like to hear them.

It is my belief that with the larger 370's you won't have the quanity of fuel or the pressure to properly atomize the fuel.

You need to start with your pump a major upgrade is needed or you can switch pumps.

Carl,

Is yours intercooled or not? If it is, you can also change your fuel pin to a non-intercooled one as it gives you significantly more fuel.
