My truck now has the best of both worlds, smooth controlable power from off idle, to near mid throttle. From mid throttle to WOT it's just awsome!!! I am one happy camper!!!
I went to Dave's Diesel in Angola, IN.
Rick removed the pump from my truck and handed it over to JP, his master pump tech. and after grilling me for about an hour on what I wanted the truck to do (they kept laughing at me as I only ask them to make it do everything, i. e. drag racing, good street manners, good milage, mega power with no smoke. . ) I felt like a kid in a toy store knowing that I could only have a few of the numerous options before me. BUT I WANTED THEM ALL!!!
I'm here to tell you, they came close to giving me everything I ask for.
Rick and the guys there allowed me to observe EVERY aspect of the process including
being in the pump room while they were setting the pump up. It appeared that my pump was retarded quite a bit and it was off on rack travel and the BD Gov. Spring Kit was causing a lot of it!! Yes, we removed the BD spring kit. It was one of my biggest problems. We tried to get it to work but it wouldn't meet the mid range parameters we wanted. So we removed all the BD stuff but the bottom spacer and put the stock springs back in. Wow!!! The pump really came alive then. Rack travel did what it was suppose to do when it was suppose to do it, and full load rpm was set where I wanted it. They explained everything they were doing every step of the way.
I has a very enjoyable and educational day with Rick and JP and am extremly pleased with how my truck runs now. I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about pump work. Dave's Diesel is truly a professional shop that listens to the truck owner, and their prices are very good too!!!
