Ok, I'm taking the big plunge and doing what I should have done to start with, puting in 370's and delivery valves this weekend. Question is, I'm currently running the #6 plate full forward, will I be too hot this way? Do I need to slide the plate back a bit while I'm there?

Also, I'm dreaming of a modified hx40 but will have to save my pennies. Should I go for a 16cm housing in the meantime or will the hx35 live and the motor not melt if I leave it until I can afford a "40"?

Move the plate back to stock and yes you should go for the 16 housing, if you have gauges you can "tune" the plate forward by watching your temps.

If you don't have gauges get them.

gpdan,

I am running 370's and a TST #6 with a stock turbo. No delivery valves, but I do have 4 inch exhaust. When I put my 370's in I put the plate in further back than stock. This was while I was still running my BD TC & VB. As soon as I got my DTT installed I put the TST #6 almost all the way forward. About 1/16 of an inch from full forward. As for egt's..... well I can peg my 1500 degree pyro in less than 5 seconds. VERY toasty in a hurry. I think the 370 by themselves add alot of heat no matter where you have your plate. But then again what do I know? I'm just an ass with hooves. I can see a PDR HX40 in my future. So in short, run that fuel plate full forward and then keep one eye... ..... your good eye on the pyro. Just some MFB for ya chatmoderator.

I am running a #8 plate and the pyro climbs about as fast as the speedometer. Fast! I am also going with the HX40 from Piers.

STOP! You guys are scaring me!! :)

I've been advised that adding the 370's and 16cm non-wastgated housing to my rig (i have the housing sitting right next to me) will give reasonable EGT's even while towing/hauling. Is this true? Should i opt for 215's or 300's or something else smaller than 370's? I'm not sure i'm ready for another turbo $?$?$

Help!!

Brian :)

Donk, yeah that's what I figure, I'm gonna start off leaving the plate where it is and take a test run. If it's too scary (probably will be) I can start backing it off until it's at a reasonable level. Man, I wish I could afford the Piers Hx40 :( The injectors and dv's will set me back for a bit I'm afraid. If the egt's are too unmanagable, I may try just adding the 16cm housing to see if it helps kind of as an interem measure. As it is, the injectors and dv's should go in this weekend and I'm headed to the drag strip with it the first weekend in August so we'll see. Hopefully I won't leave pieces of turbo on the pavement... ...
