well for the 1st time installing injectors in my life i think i did pretty well. only four problems

1. the directions disappeared for about 20min. finally i found them they where lodged in my bumper and took 5min. to retrieve them.

2. the injectors did not want to seat properly i guess the injector chambers was too dirty.

3. wasnt sure which washer to install. the directions said install the . 020 washers well there where 3 d/f sizes that came in the install kit. but remembered someone posting that it was the smallest in the set so i went with my memory and i was correct.

4. it was getting late and i drop my 7/16 socket down the inter cooler boot. dont ask how well that ment crawling under the truck and using a open end wrench to back of hose clamp took forever.

now for impressions

1. a really nice power add very little smoke.

2. well worth $300

questions

1. when i pulled the #1 injector it was covered in a milky brown goo. the rest of the injectors where covered in a black goo. whats up with that. it look like oil that was saturated in water. :( ??????????

2. idle is lower. when i put it in gear with the a/c on my rpms go to 400 and the truck is on the verge of dying and will die if you goose it a little and then let off what can i do? when in park it idles at the right rpms maybe 50 lower but put it in gear and it will stumble. the truck once off idle runs better than it did with the 180 injectors. help me on this one.

comment :for those who are scared of doing the injector install yourself do it b/c its simple. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD PULLER. I USED A LUG NUT OFF MY DUALLY WITH A PIECE IF 1"X1 1/4" PVC THEN PUT THE LUG NUT OVER THE PVC AND SCREWED IT ON THE INJECTOR POPPED RIGHT OFF.

CATCRACKER,

Gotta love those 370's!!! Put some in my friend's '95 last month - WOW! Also added 4gsk and #8 plate. We got lucky - idle rpm stayed same. A little smoke at low speed, gonna bump the timing to 16*.

I had the same idle problem with my truck when I installed the 370's. Bump your idle up to about 800-850 in drive and A/C on. If not when it's cold or you have the A/C on the truck will die on ya at a stop or when trying to back up.

The little washers are right, there . 020 ones, it puts the injector a little further in the bore and helps it to clean up better. Don't know on the milky stuff, I'd just keep an eye on it and on the open air pipe put a rag over it then slip the clamp back on, holds it and keeps stuff out.

my wife is waiting in the car so i am pressed for time but i bumped the idle up fixed that problem but found a new one... ... ... .....  KILLED BY DOWEL PIN... . i think.

i am heading to Savannah, GA tomorrow i will get some pics and see what you guys think. i think it only cracked the housing since it is running fine and oil pressure is good however oil is coming out of the exact spot where the dowel pin would crack. I am going to need some help on this one guys. later

CATCRACKER,

Sorry to hear about the KDP. If that is really what happened (could it be the oil tube going into the front cover is loose? Seen it happen before. ) then it might be a good time to have the pump tweaked since it will be off the truck. And while you have the cam out to replace the gear housing how about throwing in a better cam? I just love spending other people's money!

red,

i still have not had the heart to really find out if it is the dowel pin it if is and i have to do a rebuild trust me i am going to do it right.

i dont think the cam is messed up but i guess i will not know until i get the cover off but the truck runs fine so i assume that it just cracked the housing. oil pressure is good so i guess it is a small crack because i am not getting a pool of oil under my truck. i will check the overflow tube to see if it is loose. thanks for the reply you have given me some hope the only problem is i can traced the oil beginning from the KDP location. we will see. i may run it like it is and when it blows go with creamic piston enterprise cam etc etc.
