Got my 370's from Piers. It says in the instructions to put the . 020" washer on the injector. My question is, do you add it to the one already on it, or do you take the one thats on there now off & put the . 020" one on in it's place?

Thanks for any help,

Lonnie

Lonnie, I took off the installed washer and put the . 020 washer on in its place when I did mine. That is what I was told by PDR.

Bob

Lonnie, your the Man! I called Piers on that subject too... Take the washer (thick like . 040 or thicker) off the injector and install the little one with the kit... it's the smallest one or thinest. Hold it in place with a little grease ect. so it doesn't fall off when you drop it in the hole. If you want to get anal get your digital dial calipers out and measure it... . 020!:D

Jim

WOW you guy's are fast! Thanks for the info! And yes I did get anal & dug out my didgital's and they are . 022" - . 0235":D

Bill, it say's to use a puller, mine were just out 5000 miles ago when I had the head gasket changed. Will I still need a puller to get them out? Sure hope not as I don't have one.

Now maybe Piers will read this & revise the instructions so this dummy can understand them!:{

Lonnie

Lonnie, I have done it with out a puller and it is not too bad. The manual says to use a brass drift and hammer to help knock them loose, then I used vice grips to pull them out. If they where just out and they used never-seeze on them they shoud come right out. I reccomend getting an injector brush from Cummins or Snap-On to clean out the bores while they are out, but sence they were out recently the bores might be clean already

Bob

Installing mine right now. I got the first injector out with a nut screwed on and vice grips. But I can't get any more. I soaked them with penetrating oil and will try tomorrow. Any other ideas? Also I am unclear about installing the "quad o-rings and dust covers". How do they go on exactly?

Good question Keith! I was kind of wondering what the rubber boots were about also but forgot to ask.

I'm hoping that being mine were out not too long ago they will cooperate!#@$%!

I took all the nuts off and sprayed the injector down around the sides then used the tap it loose method and pulled them out using an M14 x 1. 5 nut screwed on to the threaded part were the holding nut was and a pair of vise grips on the nut only! Installing them I used never seize and tightened the nut almost all the way(so it has room to move around) then put the square cut O-ring on and nicely worked it around the nut with them lightly oiled, once you have the O-ring all the way in then torque the nut and recheck as it keeps water out of the lifter bore, If you install the O-rings before the nut is almost tight you will just knock it off. I didn't use the boots that are with the install kit and it wasn't worth a call. On the washers Piers recommends the . 020 washer as it helps them clean up better.

Guys post back when you get them in so we can see the smiles.

Oh Yeaahh!! Just got back from the test drive. I think I got lucky. Idle stayed the same. No stumble that I noticed. I love my truck! Thanks for the help guys.

I got my 370's from TST, there weren't any extra washers with it, just the ones that were already on them. Hope they were right, truck runs like a scalded dawg so I guess I won't worry about it.

On pulling them out, I just clamped down on them with a pair of vice grips and worked them back and forth while pulling up, they all came right out after just a few seconds.

HOLY HOT DOG!!:--)

Just got back from a test run and they feel like running with my propane used to feel! My 19 year old son said I was acting like a kid again!

We had very good luck. Just removed the nut and pulled them out by hand. They weren't even the least bit tight. No stumble and I really don't think my EGT's go up any higher or faster then stock.

I'm VERY Happy!Oo. Oo.

Thanks everyone, for the help!

Lonnie

Hey Keith,

Good to see you got them on okay. You shoulda called me, we have a puller you coulda used to make things easier.

The boots you just throw away, they're not used.

-Mike

I figured that would be the response on the test drive, they say 40-45 HP but it fells like more, when you get some 191's it will feel like that again but you could always put more plate in it and do the same. WARNING temps will get out of control quick!

ROAD TEST

During my test drive, I got so excited Oo. I had to pull over so I could giggle and pee at the same time. :-laf :-laf That was after I almost s**t my pants  in suprise.

Wayne

Jeff if that were true I would have been at 360 on my test drive... I doubt that, I'd have to say the 45 that Piers calls it is right on.
