*386* Gov Spring

I just pulled a 386 governor spring. I have no idea what it is. Possibly a 2600 rpm unit as that is all the faster it would rev with the governor screw removed and throttle at full tilt



It's from a 1990 model Ram. All original VE pump. *ALL* original, vergin pump.



It CLEARLY is printed *386*. I also have a 388 and some others



Any ideas what it's doing in there?

I found it. 2800 rpm's. This one has 309,000 miles on it so it must be pretty weak. I thought they all came with the 388 spring. No?

Maybe the 388 was there for the combination of the low revvin Cummins and direct drive 727 auto to give a few more R's... ?

Turn the spring over... it's a 98E.

The application is from a warp speed diesel powered UFO. It was a goverment experiment gone bad that is little known.

Is that from the 90 that is going to remain totally stock??

Yes Phil...........

For the hundredthousandth time... ... it's going to remain totally factory stock/OEM. I'm replacing the seals in the pump and installing the OEM spring, #388. I simply wasn't sure why it has a different spring in it.



I also have sum swamp land I'd like you too look at when your up this way.
