had an interesting conversatiion with a guy at North American diesel Performance in Edmonton, Alberta yesterday. I wanted a price on the 3k kit. why do you want that, he says. Are you drag racing that truck, or what? No, I am not drag racing that truck, I want the expanded rpm range when I am pulling my fifth wheel. Oh, where did you hear that from? TDR, the information on that site and experience there is awesome, I said. Well, I can get you full rpm by just adjusting the pump. I have never heard of that before, but your the expert. He also said the BD plate I have is a joke, I should have a TST. He also went on the slam every other diesel performance shop in the Edmonton area. I was not very impressed, his condecending attitude really turned me off. Anyways, has anyone ever heard of tweaking the pump to get 3000rpm, or is this guy full of it?

thanks, Dean

Ahh, you just got to love the vendors with the negative attitudes... . no people skills.

Call Piers for the 3K's... . and yes you need them... . IMO... . www.piersdiesel.com 1-866-888-9396... . they will give you an honest and positive attitude answer.

I second the above statement. I have a feeling that what this guy means by "adjusting" your pump is tightening down your factory gov. springs... . not good

I'd stay away from that shop, call Piers, get the 3K you'll love it!

I only occasionally tow a gooseneck, but with 3. 55's and 33" tires it was a real workout going back and forth between 4th and 5th sometimes in traffic around my area. 3K = no problems!

Only now I'm considering a 4K kit! :-laf

He was probably going to adjust your high idle screw ... . which doesn't address the defueling charactaristic of the gov springs ... . adjusting the stock springs without shimming them is a shot in the dark ... . as stated ... . you need to get the 3K springs ... . you'll be happy you did .....

Ok my pump is stock and I can pull 3100 RPM's at 107 in 5th gear, I am installing a bully dog (#11TST) plate. why would I need them and what help would they be?

Thanks to all for the replies, I'll take the advice of people who have the aftermarket things in their truck , rather than someone who thinks he has ALL the answers. Another very good reason fo

r belonging to this club!;)

Another question from buying from Piers- do they ship the stuff to you, or do you have a dealer located in your neck of the woods?

A Stock pump will begin defueling at say 2600..... repeat begin de-fueling, the 3K's will make it do that later depending on the pump, a 215 pump can yield 3600-3700 with 3K's as an example.

I get the PDR to send me most of my goodies via greyhound. Are you going to Calgary on the sept 27 weekend? There should be a get together with a bunch of "Albertan" TDR and DTR members running their trucks on a dyno and BBQ afterwards. I just hit 3500 rpm tonight in a flash with my 3,000 rpm Gov springs and like em!

Dean,

I am sorry that our conversation made you upset, as I remember it I too referred you to Piers Diesel. If this has you still upset, by all means call me and maybe we can work this out. Myself and my staff are not here to "bash" other vendors or product, we give information on them BECAUSE we have tested them all and we use what works. We like to allow you to have as much information possible on every product available. We are not looking out for our own best interests, we are here to help our customers. We know there are shops out there that like to give false information or lack of information about the products they sell. We came into business to set the record straight and give people the cold hard facts about Diesel Performance Products and what they do. We spend countless hours on a Dyno testing the products we get in so that we can give our customers TRUE results. Granted we may not have ALL the answers and if we don't we will tell you so. We pride ourselves on honesty and want our customers to tell thier friends about us and thier positive experience they had at our Shop. There are 2 sides to every story and I hope that, BIAS aside, people can call us and form their own opinions about us and our Business. Like I said earlier, gives us a call and maybe we can work this matter out and hopefully make you leave a happy customer.

GSK?

I'll give it a thumbs up mod.

Both the butt-o-meter (seat of my pants) and 2 different dynos agree the GSK is a great mod.

I don't know what happened in the original interface, but the experienced 12 valvers know our performance is a lot more complicated than strapping on a box.

Wow....

I am surprised to hear this information, I have had nothing but the best experience with the folks at NADP, pretty much the best customer service I have seen anywhere, we have all fallen victim to the "bad" shops out there, and these guys are nothing like that, and being from the Whitecourt area, can't afford to be running back and forth on false info understandably, you are honestly the first person I have heard who has anything negative to say about them, they are one of the few shops I have seen with the level of knowledge and professionalism that they posses. I know for a fact that anything that he might have had to say would have indeed been based on facts because these guys don't just do things based on notions or rumors, and the time that they put into R&D is shown by the satisfaction of us customers, as for the bashing of other vendors (which I think may possibly be a matter of interpretation), I know some fellow Cummins owners who have dealt with some of these other vendors (who will remain anonymous) and been given poor service and bad prices, when I sent him to NADP, he left with a smile and is still satisfied with his experience. I truly hope you are able to realize that maybe his blunt truth and no BS approach was not bashing and condescending, but just a misinterpretation. These guys have truly done the legwork so they can pass the best of what they offer to us, the customers, and after all, isn't that what we all would want a performance shop to do for us? After my rig had it's NADP treatment, I feel confident in the quality of the products in it and the people who back them up, I know personally that if I ever have a problem, I can call them up and not worry about being left hanging. Good luck in your future endeavors on your rig Dean, I hope you get what you want from it. :)
