I have seen these clear plastic adhesive kits that cover parts of you vehicle, which are vulnerable to rock chips, etc. They are readily available for cars and I have heard that Ford is factory installing them on the rocker panels of their trucks.

Has anyone seen a kit for the Ram (2003 and up)? They are around $100 to $150 for a car and are suppose to work awesome. Apparently there are completely transparent, so you really have to look to find the edge. Wish I would have had this for my 2000 Grand Prix, which has tons of rock chips all over the front.

Clear Bra

We have Clear Bra on the front of the hood behind the air deflector, on the rocker panels and the door edges.

Works great!

Local installer

Check with your local accessory shops. We have a local auto window tinting shop and they also install the clear 3M film. The process for both is similar. You should be able to find it for less than $150 for the rocker panels. They can put this stuff almost anywhere and when it gets to showing you can have it replaced.

I installed the 3M product on mine and am very pleased. I bought a 12"X72" roll for $100 through NAPA. I cut 12"-18" off and cut that into 2 6" strips to go behind the rear tires. The remainder I cut into 2 2" strips for the underside of the rocker panel and 2 4" strips to go up the doors. The finished product is almost totally invisible, you have to know it's there to look for it. Installing it can be frustrating, my best asvise it to liberally spray it with the recommended 25% isopropyl alcohol, 75% water mixture.
