Some of you may ask who this MMiller guy is, I don't post in here like I used to, but I still love, maintain and drive 1st gens. I want to extend an invitation for any Firstgenners for the 3rd Annual 1st Gen Meet. If you have ever attended a SOP event, this is very much patterened after that event.

Its again time to start planning on your travel plans for the summer of 2012. As it has been the last 2 years, again I'm planning on the Iowa First Gen meet to be on Saturday June 9th. As always, camping is available and guests are invited to arrive Friday the 8th, and also spend the night Saturday, with guys rolling home Sunday morning. The exact location will be sent out in emails to the people that are coming later this spring. So you can google for mileage to my area, Lenox or Creston Iowa are very close towns.

So, mark you calanders, start saving your fuel money, and come join us for fun with old Dodge diesel trucks. Again, the shop will be open, so reguardless of weather, we will stay dry. If you have children and want to bring them, my kids will be here, and there is a swing set, and fun will be had by all.

I hope to everyone can attend this year.

Michael

Thought I would bring this back to the top again, so maybe a few more can see it. Then I'll let it slide off until May or so. Anyone with a first gen is invited, please come if you can.

Michael

Will try, but no promises. I have a lot on my plate for this summer. May be able to get my brother interested, but price of fuel will be big factor. We are both retired and I live in Mississippi and he lives (that time of year) in Colorado. Nice to know someone puts things like this together for those who can do it.

Man. I need to make it one of these years. It is on my bucket list so I will make it at somepoint.

And yes. Who is this character that's posting? :-laf

Would love to come sometime, but I got a feeling wheat harvest is going to be early this year..... If we get done in time, I may consider it a little more closely... . just piping up to show my support of getting the 1st gens together. Sounds like a smoke and mirrored chrome kind of thing!! :D

That would be great James. Did you get your First gen back on the road? I still have those axles sitting up here... ...

Man, I would have thought having Pete as going would make others want to go!

I know that makes me want to go more. Just so I can watch that character in person! :D

Wow. Makes me want to go... . is he like a one-man circus or something?

It is indeed intersting... . bring one guy from New York State, and put him smack dab in the middle of the midwest, in a group of rednecks, farmboys, diesel junkies, and life can get interesting. Smart-butt comments really start flying. Its a good time, its worth the trip, right Pete?!

Well worth the trip! I had a ball, and met some of the midwest diesel heads. I also got to see Michael again, whom I hadn't seen in 3-4 years. The scenary was nice on the trip too. I like to see new parts of the country.

3rd Annual 1st Gen Meet

Michael,

My wife & I have been talking it over and are starting to plan to come from Colorado, unless fuel prices get really stupid.

Couple of questions:

You said you have camping available. Full hook-up or just a place to park?

We can do either, just want to know.

What's the normal temperature around there that time of year?

Any sort of fees? (Camping space rental, etc. ) Paid in Advance?

Hoping to see you in June.

Jack Dancoe

No charge for camping. I have a good yard for tents, a nice gravel driveway/parking area for campers and trucks. I do have a couple 110 outlets on the outside of the shop you could hook to. I have no idea how much power your camper would use. The temps could be anything from 50*F to high 80's. Could be cold and rainy, or hot and dry. Thats the fun of living in Iowa. Not to worry, the shop is dry, and is air conditioned if we get high, hot temps.

I also hope to see you in June.

Michael

Michael, unless I am sidlined by some major setback, I am going to make it to the meet. If ok, I may get in a day or two early. If I do, will be glad to help with any setup you need to do. My brother, Jack, as you have seen above is hoping to be there also. I am looking forward to a nice time.

Jim

That will be great Jim. I really don't do much for setup except cleaning out the shop, mowing the yard and such... ... but if you want I can find something for you to do! Looking forward to meeting you.

Michael

Michael,
Well, it's looking good for my wife & i making it from Colorado. Fuel prices here are actually dropping a little, down to $4. 00 today, from $4. 06 Friday.
What's the general agenda? Any planned activities, or do we just get together, kick back, look at each other's trucks, and tell lies?
My wife asked about possibly a pot luck dinner Saturday evening. Or?
Let us all know, especially those of us who will be first timers.
