2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd center cap missing. WTH is going on??

I notice that the center cap on my right front wheel is missing again. This is the third one on the right side (rear and front) that has dissappeared in about 6 weeks. I'm pretty sure that they are being stolen for some reason. I bought two from TDR member, Tom Golden, but I bought the last one he had about three weeks ago. He mentioned that there was another guy who had "lost" three caps in a short period of time. Are we the victims of some scavenger hunt or have the thieves targeted our trucks. This is really starting to pi$$ me off. I believe the first 2 were stolen at the same Home Depot and the 3rd one disappeared at either another HD or a drywall supplier that I stopped at. Of course they take the right side so you don't notice right away. BTW I check them on a regular basis to make sure they are tight. I can't remove them with out a pry bar, so their not coming off from hitting potholes or anything. Anyway, the long and short of this is, has anyone got some center caps for a '01 that they want to sell?

I had this same problem when I first bought my truck. 2 of them gone within a 6 week span. I just wish I would catch a guy doing it once. Hope you find one so you don't have to get bent over by the dealer.

Well, I have the set that came on the truck, a set I got with the Chrome Steel wheels (which are not the right ones for those wheels) and a set I got yesterday with a set of 2000 Alloy wheels. I think I have one set sold and will keep the rest. SNOKING

The problem I had with them is they're really hard to seat properly. I usually wound up kicking them as hard as possible.

I have found on my toher trucks that I have to turn the lug nuts where they are not square with the lip on the caps . The corners of the nuts need to be the contact surface to get a tight fit. I also have put a dab of silicone caulk on the edge of the nuts to "glue" them on so I didn't loose caps. Last week I came home and found my right side caps gone. I asked Chad if he had seen anyone messing around the truck at Delta where we were working. He told me two boys were hanging around the truck smoking and he asked them what they were up too. thought they were way too young to be smoking. anyway it apears they needed two ashtrays. Wife is on my case big time to get some new caps . She says it makes the truck look 'trasshy' without them. I just been trying not to spend the money so some hoodlum could steal some more.

I believe there are different caps from thew '01's... they look different in the depth of the cap on the sides my 98. 5's world not fit my 01's tried several times and they would not go on !!

Thanks for the offer. Are your caps for the alloy wheel or the chrome wheels? (Mine are alloy) I'll probably go to the Big Rig Nats. Someone has to guide you guys home.

The Hubcap Heaven near me has both the centers and the wheelskins for my dually.

They're located on Rt. 1 about 5 miles south of 495.



I wonder if they just don't advertise truck stuff on the web?

That place is about a block away from the Home Depot that my first 2 caps "disappeared" from.

I checked w/ them right after they went AWOL and they looked thru the 'puter and said that they didn't have any. Problably not logged into the system yet. GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!



EDIT: Oops. I just re-read your post and realized you said "dually". There I go jumping to conclusions again. BUT, I'm going to check w/ them again. I think I saw the guy that took them, but didn't think about it till after I left and noticed they were gone.
