3rd Gen 2WD Crowd Front Suspension ??

Have been reading about the 2005 Recall for front springs on HD Rams 2WD.



Based on the description, I have seen the same thing at times on my 03.



I love the ride & handling of the 2 WD, but it scares me when I hit a decent bump, and the steering jumps.



It states it's an "incorrect" spring installed, but maybe it's an inherent problem with all 3rd gens 2wd? If you look underneath, there is not much room for spring compression before the control arm bottoms on the frame.



I also read they are cheap, $30. 00 a piece. Maybe it makes sense to change out, and add those front leveling spacers I have been thinking about.

You dont need a compressor to change them out,but if you are thinking about installing a spacer be prepared to be creative and remember how much energy is stored in a spring of that diameter wire.

Did mine real easy,jack up front of truck fairly high, use jack stands on frame, use floor jack at very end of lower control arm loosen nut all the flush to top of threads on upper ball joint , give it a smack with a hammer and it will pop, disconnect your brake line , also remember to pull shock first, just be sure when reinstalling spring your get it in the lower control arm correctly. Reverse proceedure, done

I can only imagine the "spring" in those springs, and I am surprised they apparently come out this easy.
