I put the 34" Nelson straight through desighn on my 04. 5 600 and I like it, slightly louder than stock but still a good sound if you get on it. Was about $60 at local Kenworth shop

Did you just swap this in in place of the stock muffler? Is your kitty still hangin on? I was thinking about this same muffler, glad to hear you like it. Does it have a drone at highway speeds? Thanks
Was this a straight forward conversion, dropping the factory muffler and going with the Nelson? I am planning on keeping my resonator & cat, mainly looking to reduce the EGT's and a little better sound. Also watching my pocketbook...
TCordero, Straight thru muffler isn't going to lower your EGTs much. I installed the MBRP catback (kept the cat) for the same reason. I saw little to no reduction in exhaust temps running the Power Pup in the performance mode. Running on Extreme setting, temps shoot up to 1400+ just as fast as with the stock muffler. These 600s just run hotter. It would probably take a bigger turbo to cool them down. You'll love the sound of the straight thru muffler, though. Quiet idle and cruising but nice growl when you give her the fuel.
Just to give a second opinion, don't forget about the Aeroturbine muffler. I had one put on about 3 months ago. Removed the kitty. Put in about 5 foot of 4 inch exhaust pipe and put the Aeroturbine back where the OEM muffler was. Sounds deep and throaty. I was at a Dyno day a couple of months ago and a lot of the 3rd Gen guys were making comments how they liked the sound of it. I found it on E-bay for $99. 00.
We have an MBRP performance muffler available that will slip into the factory tubing perfectly. It's T-409 stainless to match the factory material, so no rigging or figuring out how to make it fit. Just cut the factory muffler out slip ours in place and clamp it down. Ours has the hangers welded to the muffler and the short intermediate pipe just like the stock one and fits right in place. Now if you want to get a cat delete pipe we have those as well, when you delete the cat though be prepared for a little bit of noise. Some love it others don't etc.
