Whats wrong with people these days? Doesn't anybody drive defensively?

The people on the county roads who have NO idea where there right side tires are in relation to the edge of the road are bad enough, but these people who SLAM on their brakes because they were too busy talking on the phone to realize they had reached their turn are murderous!!

I was hauling my tractor (put a pic in readers rigs) from the house to the pasture doing 55 on a state route, when all of a sudden some young girl decides to grab the skids and make a turn! She just about didn't make the turn.

I saw the side road coming and when I first saw her brake lights, I laid my foot on the brakes and started to downshift. When I got to 5th, she got off the brakes and started off like she had started to make a wrong turn, so I got back on the go pedal ... ... ... and then WHAM, the brake lights came on, the *** of the car stood up and the oncoming lane was full!!

Aren't people smart enough to check mirrors and realize they have a larger vehicle behind them? Are people in too big a hurry to turn around and come back?

All I know is, I'm glad I didn't have my '99 dually, I'm not sure how it woulda turned out. I had the air and stereo on, with the window cracked. I could hear tires sliding, not squealing, but sliding. The ABS pumped once and started to pump a second time when I got off the binders as she made the turn.

Everything stayed straight and I think I coulda come to a complete stop with clearance, but I wouldn't have wanted to for sure.

Well, put it this way, with the load I had, the stop caused 2 CD's on the passenger seat to hit the floor! Thats a pretty decent braking system IMO.

Hell no, if someone sees a truck pulling a boat or a trailer they think "hmm they are going slow so I will pull out in front of them, I dont want to be behind them. " Nothing more than I like to pass someone pulling a trailer. I travel a 2 lane road between my house and the lake. I wont think twice about downshifting and pouring on the power to pass a slow one. I think it should be legal to use the chrome horn now and then on stupid people.

The most dangerous place I regularly drive is through downtown Fort Worth, past the county jail--especially in the evening. Every day there is some yahoo (usually talking on their cell phone) who busts a move across three lanes of traffic so they can make the left turn to visit/spring their friend/relative/general #&@$ from jail. Most of the time they don't even look before shooting across the lanes. I figure these are probably the people who don't have liability insurance either, and are best avoided.

I agree on the people pulling out in front of you when pulling a trailer. I think in my case even when empty I think the cab marker lights must be like a big neon sign saying "Don't get behind this guy, go! go! go!", and then after they refuse to accelerate to the speed I've been happily travelling at, I just end up passing them anyhow.

Maybe it's like the train thing where a train appears to be travelling slowly depending on how you look at it when in reality it's flying. I have no idea how everybody's depth perception can be that bad to where everyone does that sort of junk. All I ever pull is a 1970's ~20' fiberglass cuddy cabin boat, but even then the idiots tend to flock in front of it, even when i travel in excess of the speed limit.

I think the thing where they have to get in front of you in order to turn is the one that burns me the most. I need to bomb my truck, just so I can get some revenge on them with smoke...

Yep, BIG WHITE TRUCK!

I don't know how people miss it, but they sure do tend to pull out in front of me a lot.

The only thing I can figure is that they think I'm going slower than I am... then I end up right on their butt and they get PO'd...

About 3 years ago I was coming into some congestion on the freeway. 2 lanes, the right one completely stopped and the left one, which I was in, was still moving along at about 40mph. I was taking it easy 'cause I "knew" some johnbutt was gonna pull out. Sure enough, some richard thought I was going about 10mph and yanked it over in front of me and "took off", if you can call it that. After I got into 4th gear I was standing on the brake pedal with both feet. I know for a fact that without my Jake I'd have nailed him. I missed him by no more than 6 inches. Cement median on the left, just off the lane, and cars on the right. I've never laid on the horn for so long in my life. I had two feet on the brake pedal and both hands on the horn, it was all I could do. I still get the willies everytime I pass stopped traffic like that.

Yesterday I was going through rush hour, again in the left lane. Stop and go there ain't no "passing" lane. Some guy decided I wasn't passing the cars on my right fast enough so he whipped around me in his p. o. s explorer. As he pulled in front of me he half*****ed flipped me the bird. If you're gonna flip me off, FLIP ME OFF. Let me see that finger you p****. Funny part is he got all of 500ft in front of me and had to slow down 'cause that's all the faster traffic was going.

Not a day goes by that I don't spare some idiots life by paying attention. One of these days...

To keep on a 3rd gen topic. Yes, these brakes are unbelieveable. The 19. 5's have increased my braking distance, but that's easily compensated for by cranking up the trailer brakes. I also can't wait to get a performance muffler. I got rid of the ones I had 'cause I didn't like the drone. I can't stand blowin' past the moron that just cut me off and him not hearing me. No feeling in the world compares to rattling the windows on a $50K Lexus with a dirty old cattle truck. :D :D :D :-laf

Oh Yeah, one more thing. Earlier in the stop and go crap last night I noticed the guy next to me in an early 90's chevy crankin' his neck to either see me or hear me. I think he was in awe of my exhaust brake. I had a hard time not smiling, don't wanna seem vain and all...
