I have finally perfected the 3 Gen CB/Ham Radio mounts for the Automatic Transmissions. I have 2 models:

Narrow mount for CB/Ham Radio only

Wide mount for CB/Ham Radio and Linear/amp

These are made out of 10 gauge steel and are powdercoated black. They mount under the center of the front seat and you still have access to the handle for the lower storage compartment in the seat.

6 Speed to follow shortly.

I must mention, if you have a big radio, you may have to mount the bottom 1/2 of the case of the radio to the CB/Ham mount first, then attach the radio, then an external speaker will be required.

If interested, call, PM or email me.

I will be installing the 6 speed mount Friday to check the fit in relation to the shifter. I can tell you that you will loose the cupholder nearest to the driver. Sorry, nothing I can do to change that.

If everything goes well, they will be ready to go also. Price will be the same as the Narrow Automatic mount. Oo.

Wouldnt that mount make the middle seat up front basically un-useable?

Scott

For adult seating, Yes, a child can straddle the mount. However, you still have full access to the under seat storage.

I have 4 other seats for adults, and the drivers seat I all mine! :D Oo.

Thank you to Gyspyman for his time and truck to try the 6 speed mount on.

The 6 speed mount need some slight modifications. Not a problem, should have them ready to ship in a week or so. I must state again, you will loose the cupholder closest to the driver.

Also If you have an Automatic transmission with the floor 4x4 shifter, you will also need the 6 speed mount.

The 6-speed and Auto's with 4x4 transfer case shifter on the floor are ready to ship.

I now have a mount for all standard CB/Ham radio applications in the full size Ram. Oo.

I wish I would have seen this thread before. You'll see below where I mounted mine. DO you have pics of the 6-speed mount? I'd like to see it. If it is as great as everyone says, I may still get one.

SOLER

This is a wide mount, however the radio is mounted exactly where if would on the 6-speed mount, it just isn't as wide.

Hey Bob,

My Texas Ranger CB has the speaker on the bottom of the radio. Does the radio sit flush on the mount making it hard to hear? I am very interested in buying a mount. Let me know.

Rhino,

Yes mine does, If you choose to mount as mine, I suggest you get a external speaker. It is much easier to hear.

heres where i have mine with the 5spd, it the only thing i could figure out ,i am running a external speaker, anybody else done anything different? picture of cb

cb radio mounting

I have an idea for putting in a cb radio that i have not tried yet, and because I have a six speed transmission, I thing this would work. I am going to try installing it in the center seat console if i can figure out how to get the mounting bolts to hold and which ones to use. The only wires that you would need to run and hide would be the coax for the antenna and the speaker setup, as the power supply is already there. Of course you would loose the use of the console, but i only use it for an armrest and a place for the service manuals. Will post pictures if i can get it to work out and look good. If anyone else trys this, please post pictures. Still in a deep freeze here and no garage to work on it.

I E-mailed BIG BOB and bought the mount. It was the same Idea I had but I didn't have to do the work. Thanks BIG BOB! :)

I use an Icom 706 and it is in the space UNDER the middle seat. Then the head is remoted to the dash and the coax is run out thru the floor thru two holes drilled in the rear between the decking. One antenna is mag mounted and the HF is on the toolbox.
