I just got back from the trusty Dodge dealer. .

They are saying that the dash replacement involves lots of extra parts as the dash is now made differently. . Anyone go ahead with this repair... Mine is cracked and its time...

1 5GT31XDVAB Cover - inst 332. 00 - this is supposed to be the part that has the speaker holes and defrost vents
1 WL86XDVAA Panel - inst 642. 00 - top part??
1 68055053AA Kit - instru 315. 00 - an install kit needed for new style dash
1 68054763AA Panel Kit 649. 00 - another kit needed
1 68054784AA Duct kit 188. 70 - different style ducts for under the dash?
1 68054785AA Duct Kit 144. 02 - the other ducts (for the other side)

total of 2429. 67 inc. tax. . ??? WTF??? These are retail prices. . but I would get discount (jobber)

I only ordered the first one as its totally destroyed by the Florida sun... It was 265. 60 instead of 332. 00

Has anyone replaced their dash and seen that its like this?

I picked up my new driver seat foam cushion today. . Genos does not sell the one for leather seats :( It was 117 dollars (list of 132. 02)

FYI ...

Part # 5093781AA Pad - Front (leather)

My dash is cracked enough that the cracks rattle sometimes when pulling a trailer. I priced the 2 main pieces through my deal and compared it to the part Geno's sells figuring I would change it when I do my heater treater. It's so high, I may just leave it as is for awhile. For me, the 2 parts from the dealer are just a little higher than the one from Geno's. However, my decision is whether to have OEM fit and finish that only lasts for a few years at a time or to have an aftermarket part that they openly admit may not fit perfectly, but is supposed to last. I mostly park in a garage and don't drive my truck too often so I will probably go OEM... eventually.

BD, I did just what you are talking about. We replaced the heater doors (all 4) and the dash cover (2 piece) in half a day. I an so glad to have the HVAC working right again. And it wasn't to hard to do.

I use the Coverlay dash covers, with good results. http://coverlaymfg.com/lookup.html?PartTypeTree=Dash+Board+Cover Much easier and cheaper than replacing the whole dash... . I was unaware they had to change dashes... . guess they weren't selling enough. These are good for the money, and will do until someone starts making aftermarket dashes cheaper...

Also, don't forget, Geno's has the dash available for $600... ... http://www.genosgarage.com/DODGE-RA...03-05-2500_3500_4500_5500/productinfo/DRD3-5/

I though I saw where the price for the replacement dash at geno's had come down a whole bunch this last issue. I had made up my mind I was going to replace mine till I got shell shocked at the dealer about two years ago when they changed it to all of those pieces.
