Has anyone thought of making a replacement for the black plastic air dam on the 3rd Gen trucks? Mine is cracked on both sides from running into snow banks and other objects I'd rather not discuss!;)

I'd love to have one in diamond plate aluminum or in black diamond plate steel. It looks like it would be a hard piece to make though. I have seen a truck around Salt Lake that has a smooth stainless piece, so I figure it can be done. Any takers!!??;)

I was wondering the same thing. I noticed the other day that mine was broken too. With it being well below zero the plastic gets very brittle and going through drifts in the driveway didn't help any.

Hmmm..... to bad nobody has a picture of this truck. Doing something like that crossed my mind before i replaced mine about a week ago. Definitely not something you want to change out

Next time I see him, I'll try to grab a pic. I always see him on the road headed the other way though! So it was hard to replace that piece then?

Not sure what CurtLee is talking about, but I changed mine out several years ago and did not think it was that difficult. Could be the years have dulled the painful memories, but I sure don't think it was that difficult. :)

Painful memories? I spent more time trying to get one bolt out than it took me to put the new one on. #@$%! I finally got tired of fighting it and took the all but one out and just pryed the remaining peice off so i could put the new one back on the next day. I managed to break the liscense plate frame at the same time as the air dam. Snow mounds, you just gotta love 'em. :-laf

I've been thinking about making a composite one that actually went pretty low. Minimize drag increase mpg. It would be really only a pavement no snow type idea. i could make a simple one relativly easy, but to make it fit nice and look killer would be alot work.
