Greetings to all 3rd gen members! I am a former TDR member from when I had my 93 W350. I have now purchased an 04 W2500 4dr 4x4 with a six speed; it's all stock for now! I have lots of ideas/questions for you experienced members, I certainly will not go into all of them on this thread - just a couple! Some mods I'm considering for my usage (tow a 12K toy hauler):

1) Gauges

2) 5" exhaust

3) Smarty Jr controller

4) FASS lift pump/filters

Does this sound like a reasonable start?

Thanks,

Keith

Welcome to the 3rd gen form. I too went from a 1st gen ( although it was a V8 ) to a 3rd gen. I have stayed with stock power so far as I wanted to get used to the power level of it first. I would start with the gauges so you have a base line. There is lots to read on here. If you do you will learn what works and what is a waste of time and $. If use your money wisely you can do lots. I have a travel trailer so I wanted an exhaust brake before I wanted more power. It gets cold up here so I bought an Espar heater, you won't need that.

Is yours an 04 ( 305 hp ) or an 04. 5 ( 325 hp ) ? I have a Smarty POD but will wait till later to use it, as my engine has just been rebuilt. I have an AirDog ( similar to a FASS ) I hope to get it on this weekend. I like it for the extra filtration and it gets rid of the in tank pump, or worse the stock one on the engine. As for the exhaust I personally would wait until it needs to be replaced. Shadrach

Mine is the 04 305hp, missed the 325 by about two months of production time! Just curiosity, why did your motor require rebuilding? Lots of miles or catastrophic failure? A friend of mine put the external pump/filter setup on his 2nd gen, very nice setup. I agree with you on the in tank pump, has been a problem on CTD's through the years.

You are one Lucky Son of a Gun! Welcome back!

Welcome! I had a great 93 W250 - fantastic bucket seats and with mods, it would really scoot of the line.

The 305 maybe the best of all worlds. They get some of the best fuel mileage and had very few problems.

Thanks to all of you! I was disappointed that I didn't get the 325 HO, but sounds like that may have been a good thing! I will continue reading the forums for ideas on a little more power and just drive & enjoy!

Ah yes, the "just a little more power slippery slope" !!!!!! There are a lot of us that should belong to MTA - More Torque Anonymous :-laf
