I stumbled acrossed one of my 3rd gen filters I had forgotten about.

My Question is will it be ok on the 89?

It's the stratapore for the 3rd gen.

Thanks, KO

My dad and I bought a case of mopar filters real cheap from the dealership we buy parts from for his truck. They ordered them in and did not sell any. We use them on his 04. 5 and on my 93. I've read that they're the same anyways later on.

Just checked Genos and it basically said the same.

The LF16035 (Stratapore) can be used on all Dodge diesels from 07 back.

Thanks, BTI

My Cummins guy told me that the newer filters can be run all the way back through the 88 model trucks. But, you cannot run an older type of filter on a 24 valve or newer truck. The newer engines produce more oil pressure and were splitting the filters so they had to make the newer filters with thicker cases for this reason.

Mine are different here....

The 24 valve engines in the bus fleet require a very much different oil filter than the older engine. The pipe nipple that the filter threads onto is much larger on the new engines.
