I just noticed my driver's seat isn't working. I can hear the motors trying to work but no movement. Just a kind of clicking sound. It's the same no matter which switch I hit or which direction I move it. I rarely adjust the seat.

Anyone else had this problem? I won't have time to take it apart for a couple weeks.

Yes, my vertical motor (up & down) does that. The horizontal motor (fore & aft) works.
My wife drove my truck, had her oversize plastic cup stuck between the doorpanel, seat, hip. The cup was pushing down on the switch for some time and striped out unit.
I went to the dealer and they said I have to buy the whole power seat deal. I guess that means the lower frame with the two motors? It was over 500. 00 back in 2004.
I still fume over this, that is why I do not like anybody other than me drive my truck.

Wow only $500? Maybe I'll take it apart and see if it could be repaired. This is why I'd just as soon have manual adjustments for the seat.

I did not want the electric seat either but wanted the storage under the center seat and that came with the electric driver seat. My up and down motor has also bit the dust now. I am the only one that drives the truck and know it was only adjusted a handful of times. Pretty sad.

I have one of the seat adj. motors causing problems. In my case it wasn't the motor, its the (transmission) motor gear to worm gear transfer, flat-spotted. If I assist the worm gear, take out the slack the motor drives the gear as expected and moves the front-tilt, till the flat spot comes back into play.

I have not been able to find individual parts for the 3-motor assembly, priced as an assembly $500 - $800.

I positioned to front-tilt to a comfortable position, disconnected the plug to that motor.

I read on previous discussions, posts, find a salvage yard in your area that might have a late model (3rd gen) seat assembly.

If you do a search these type of failures have been around since the 2nd gen and maybe longer.

I to had my vertical adjust go out. Priced it with the dealer and they wanted close to 800 for the whole assembly. I was visiting a friend in phoenix AZ and was driving by a scrap yard and decided to stop by. Found a wrecked 03 1500 with the power seat and picked it out of the mangled steel and broken glass. they only wanted 20 bucks for it. took it home, put it in and it didnt work. the lumbar support would move the seat forward but that was it. took it back out and switched the wiring harness form my bad one to the junk yard one and everything works great now. have had no problems for the last 8 months since i replaced it. so... if you find 1 in a 1500 at a junk yard apparently they arent wired the same so you will have to switch out the wiring harness for the seat, it is very easy to do.

FYI -

After investigating further for individual driver seat parts, motors, harnesses etc.

I checked ebay motors. several listings for motors with and without worm gears. different motors, partial assembly etc.
