On my third gen 2005 5.9 l 2500 I've replaced the complete steering system. Mopar recommended upgrading the pump to a Bosch ZF pump which I did all new OEM, new OEM pressure lines to the hydroboost and down to the brand new redhead steering box. The complete front suspension was replaced last year with all Carly and icon systems. I performed the recommended bleed procedure with ATF+4 and took the truck out for a drive. it began not wanting to steer to the left. Brakes felt fine, steering felt great to the right but locking up going to the left no matter revving the engine or not. I have since redone the bleed procedure five times including 100 stop to stop turns with the wheels off the ground engine not running. I have removed the lines from the steering box tried to burp any air out as suggested by redhead. And then proceeded to bleed the system two more times still won't turn to the left. The last time I took the lines off, I put nylon fittings onto the steering box placed vinyl lines so I could watch the fluid, then ran the vinyl lines into a bottle of clean fluid, cycled the steering box 20 times left to right, lock to lock to try to ensure air was bled out of the steering box. The last bubble to escape from the box came from full lock to the right. We then reinstalled the two lines into the steering box, perform the recommended bleed procedure and let it sit overnight once again as we have done on every other bleed procedure prior to this. I have even gone as far as getting another OEM pump from Mopar after the third additional bleed procedure to insure it was not a pump issue.
Any thoughts on this?

Seems your redhead is faulty, just from what you say about what you have done.
The proportional valve for the hydro steering is an integral part of the steering gear.
If it turns fine to one side then the oil feed is fine and enoug, if it doesnt steer to the other side the valve is the issue.
Also there is no big thing to bleed it, ONCE slowly lock to lock is 99% enough for this.

Yep, I would have to say you have a faulty box. Seems to be the luck of the draw with RedHead or Borgeson boxes. I have had both, various problems with both and no issues other times.

I appreciate you input. This is as I suspected. I will still test my system pressure as I ordered a PS pressure test Gage set. I will not be disputed on my diagnosis. Yes a lot of time and money has been spent. That is the way. Thanks.

My mechanic buddy replaces a lot of steering gears, mostly in bigger trucks. Since RH is in our back yard, he uses them a lot. He tells me they have at least a 10% failure rate - mostly from leaks but they also have other problems. Keep in mind these aren't even shipped - they're hand delivered to him.
So it isn't too surprising to have a faulty one.

My new one sure works like a dream though. Seems like it's better than new.
