There is one of those roll up tonneau covers on my 2005 I just bought, took off the rolled up part. Never unrolled it. Still have the side brackets with the velcrow strip installed. I was going to put it back on and see if the velcrow still works and if it latches in the back. It was missing one side of the rear latch lever thingys.

Not sure what you are asking in your question ... mine has a metal dowl in the front and back that latches
Are they post to over hang, be right on top or be back a little bit?

the rear section where it sits on the tailgate/rear of bed. Are these style of covers not post to overhang at all or just cap the top of the bed instead of more overlap like a canopy

They are not supposed to overhang, they sit on top of the bed rails and tailgate. At least that’s how all the ones I’ve seen are.

They are Truxedo brand.
I have to put mine back on and see if it is still good. Its old. THought I was missing a rear latch but called Truxedo and there is only one latch in back

I had a truxedo for many years (bought it when truck was new) that was a single latch in the back, but it failed in a very high windstorm. The Truxedeo I bought to replace it about 5 years ago has two latches in the back and better "velcro" - like material to secure the sides.
