When I read "shaker" I started shaken in my shoes and started clicking fast to see what this new Mopar Accessories Part is all about.

My first let down was when I read "non functional" I thought ok. . we can fix that and make it flow some air and continued to read on and found that this shaker mounts to the hood and not the motor so if you want it to shake you gotta rock the truck! geeze- I hate fake stuff.

Reminds me of the time I saw a blown Mustang in town and then a week later caught it with the hood up at a gas station and the blower was on the hood! thats just embarrassing.

If you want to see the shaker its here

I just don't understand the point to driling into your brand new paint, for a plastic ugly peice to be bolted down to the top of said hood. And it serves no function, thats the worst part!

That thing is huge! probably need some rain covers in the winter.

I ran it all winter with the rear facing holes and never had a problem. I fully expected to encounter something negative... its all part of R&D.

I have a design for the forward facing inlets that will have a deflector behind each hole to deflect any debris or moisture to the inside top of the shaker part.

The other thing I should point out is you might be surprised at how much moisture can be taken in by the factory air boxes. Rain and/or snow can put a lot of moisture in there. ;)

Its gotta be huge for huge air intake, especially when feeding twins.

I'm with you. Bling is for the tow rig... but that just isn't even bling... . that's ugly.

I'm not knocking you at all scotty1, but why not just get the SRT 10 hood if all you want is a hood scoop? At least it lets air in and you don't have to drill any holes. Not trying to be sarcastic or inflammatory, trying to understand the difference in thinking.

I don't think you guys get it... that's not a "decorative" add-on, it's a fully-functional air-intake (see the dual UNI filters inside??) - Scotty has it plumbed into the turbo. It's not a fake, non-functional piece like the SRT-10 hood... it really sucks (air, that is). And it's a true "shaker-style" intake - the hood opens up around the intake (which is mounted to the top of the engine - which is what makes it shake).

My guess is the comments are more towards the non functional SRT-10 hood.

I looked at that as something to use as an alternative... it would only allow me to use a small filter for fitment... so I went overtop of the engine and put two 9 inch Uni filters in there. This allows the optimum for twin turbo applications that normally would have a filter underhood sucking engine heat.

If the comments are pointed towards my intake... everyone has an opinion.

However, just to clarify, its not plastic anymore, its fiberglass and its not bolted to the hood nor is it a non functional item... its extremely funtional for sled pullers, drag racers and the towing crowd. Egt reduction is in excess of 300F and thats with the stock HY-35 pencil neck turbo that is running out of its efficiency range... I guess the shaker extended its range a bit but its at its limits and is coming off asap.

I originally had the shaker inlets rearward... I was hoping to pick up the positive air pressure from the windshield. I only gained a minimal benefit as the shaker is too far from the windshield. :{

So anyway, if ya don't like it... oh well. If ya like it... cool.

to each their own. Thats why theres so many different products and brands of trucks out there.

Scotty

just right is not the same for everyone, but extreme is just right for me.

Interesting, I haven't heard from anyone using the stocker as the top charger. What will you change to?

Besides a true shaker. . a neat idea would be like what was available on the 70 Plymouth Roadrunner "Air Grabber" so you could flip open the scoop for added cool air when you want and then close it down for wet or dusty conditions.

Tom,

I do get it. The SRT 10 hood is functional it's just not plumbed to anything and lets cool air into the engine bay only. If you go back to the beginning and read Matt400's original post, the one he is talking about IS NOT functional but a bolt on "for looks" thing.

Scotty1's design is much more functional than the SRT 10 hood is and appears to be a true shaker but imho isn't as "nice" looking TO ME as the SRT 10 hood is. Of course, this is based only on seeing scotty's shaker from the front in the same picture just at different zoom settings. I for one don't want anything on the hood that takes away too much visibility to what is in front of me.

Scotty1, I applaud your efforts and wish you the best of success with it once you get it on the market.

No twins on the truck yet. that is next. Once I have that in place I can final fit the belly pan.

I thought the bread loaf as I call it would impair my vision... surprisingly enough it does not. I was going to lower it another inch at least if it did.

The grabber hoods are very cool. I looked at the cost of the Hemi Cuda shaker and its in the 2000-2600 range. Just for the parts, no hood.

I am looking at motorized in cab control and with the forward inlets, one could take this a step further and have out board gauges as well. ;)

I may try that shortly.

Nothing here can hurt or dent my feeling, its all good to get good bad or indifferent feedback. thanks for all of it.

I do have one pet peeve and thats when someone comments on a product that is on the market and has never used it. I have seen that far too many times to count, on many different sites. It baffles me at times how one person can sway an audience on a website with a derogatory comment or report that is from heresay or rumor. Not just my stuff but many others as well.

OK, soap box is tossed back where it belongs. :)

I better get back to work... LOL

I just took my SRT-10 pillar off, what am I gonna miss out on now?

What am I going to benefit from? :D

Scotty1, I like it, a real shaker, nice.

I'm planning on using my SRT10 hood to suppliment airflow to the Scotty Ram Air III. Aluminum sheet and tube for the plenium and I'm toying with the idea of an acceleration activated grabber scoop (just a counter-weight and cantelever).

Kudos for thinking outside the airbox.
