2 weeks ago on the 1st day of vacation I managed to crush my steering stabilizer on a large slab of granite lining a campground road. At first it wouldnt turn right but with a little encouragement I regained steering enough to get into camp and then remove it from the fixed end and tie wrap it back to the drag link. I have 2 questions; I couldn't get it loose from the drag link that is I got the nut loose but couldnt get the stud free of the drag link any tips? And what should I replace it with (I really want something that just bolts in the stock location) any help is as always appreciated.

If you damaged one in the stock location the odds are good you will do it again... ... . Mine are tucked up high in a safer location as well as giving my diff protection.

I would be contacting THUREN about his track bar, or doing as Bob4x4 and looking into the Defiant products along with a aftermarket track bar. Good luck with your repairs and better setup.

Thanks for the info guys i've seen both of those mods and though they look great this truck doesn't see much 4 wheelin just pulling the toyhauler around I do see plenty of 4wd but not off road. I was really wondering if anyone has a recomendation for a replacement stabilizer that bolts in. I do realize what a weak point this mounting location can be, I however have 55k on the truck and this is the first time I've hit it. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

Try Defiant/Carli Suspension... Defiant Offroad Truck Suspension Parts

I talked to them recently about thier new single steering s/s. Mounts where the OEM is at. Works great for the average driver unless you race hundreds of miles off road then go w/ a internal floating piston type dampner or a dual system like Bob4x4 setup on his post above.
