3rd gen to 2nd gen wheel swap

Will the 3rd Gen 17" wheels fit on a 2nd Gen truck?

Inquiring minds want to know.

They say that the two have the same bolt pattern so it should work but you can not put 2nd gen wheels on 3rd gen truck, because they are 16" and the calipers are too big on the new trucks. (I already tried)
