2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd gen wheels on a 2nd gen truck

Will the 3rd gen wheels fit my 2nd gen truck? Are the wheel studs long enough? I also have Balance Masters dynamic balancers on my truck. These steel wheels are garbage, two of them are out of round and nothing will balance that. One of them sticks to the front hub so bad that you have to loosen the lug nuts and drive forward and back until you hear the wheel break free. I found some new '06 wheels for sale.

I put a set of '06 wheels on my 98 w/ drums on the rear and there are no clearance issues as there are with the 16"X8 alloys. They were a straight bolt on with no rubbing or anything. Also, on the '06 Aluminums, they come with a tin cover instead of polished, at least mine are. I thought that I really wouldn't like them, but I like them more and more. Real easy to clean. Look at my readers rigs for pics of them. Also, I think that you can use your old OEM lugnuts in order for the covers to fit. I had aftermarket wheels and lugnuts before so I had to buy a new set. Hope this helps.

3rd gen wheels fit fine on 2nd gens. You can use the stock 2nd gen lug nuts too (they are the same as the 3rd gens). The only thing that didnt fit was the rear lug covers (the dana 80 hub is too long). Also the 2nd gen lug covers wont work on 3rd gen wheels.



Here are a pic with 305/70-17 goodyear MTR's on my rig. These 3rg gen wheels and tires have about 20k on them and the tread still looks decent. If anyone is interested in the set, I will sell them for $500 and throw in a matching spare rim with no tire. Pick up only.

Ya, but its a little different. It is kind of a dimpled rubber. Don't know who made it and I need more of it. Previous Owner put it on. I like it.

Hastings, Great looking Truck! I Love the way those wheels look on the 2nd gen! I am also looking do some coating of the rockers. let me know if you find out what kind of stuff that is. Looks great!
