I've done searches on the forums, and found a lot of people that ran this setup on previous year trucks, though who's running them on 3rd gens? RC Cox guided me on the housings, and Joe Hellmann is building me a twins kit with them. RC is in the 800's on diesel only with them. Who else with a third gen is running them? If you are, could you tell me how they are performance and durability wise for you? I know they are kind of the dinosaurs of turbos these days. RC seems very happy with his. I like how his max boost is only 55, and his max EGT's are just under 1500 in the quarter. I'm interested in others results. My 06 ran a 12. 21 on diesel only with a 62-14 and 90hp (29 litre) DDP injectors. I'm very curious what it will do with the twins/39 litre injector combo next time out. .

i dont like the 40-16, its a slow spooler, im adding a larger cam to see if it will help, i want to run a silver bullet/big brother combo, my old school set up is awesome at egt reduction and for heavy trailer pulling, my blow offs are releasing at 75 psi, egts didnt go over 1250, this is with the motor i just blew up... . :-laf

if you think the 40 was slow then why are you going even bigger? i bet the big tires and all dont help pick up either.

I've got the SB-BB hybrid on my race truck. It actually doesn't spool to bad to me. When the boost does come in, it shoots up very quick. . I just didn't want to run large chargers and throw 90 pounds of boost to my daily driver. I'd rather stay at 60 or below if I can still make big hp numbers there. I'll go a little higher if needed, though I'd prefer not to. .

in my expeirience with lag, the silver bullett 66 out spooled my hx-40 by about 250-300 rpm, not sure but the 66 might of had a 12 or 14 cm turbine housing, i currently have a slow spooling 16cm on the 40 right now, this could be why, the reason for the 16 on the 40 is because i plan on running nitrous:cool:

my thoughts exactly LOL
i am currently building another engine, i will be running a helix 2 camshaft and hellfire injectors, with relentless diesel dual cp-3s, i think its funny you laugh out loud, i dont have sponsors, i pay for and complete all my own work...

Speaking of the HX40 on top, a bigger housing will equal more lag and the potential for more top end hp? This is what I'm guessing. Do the housing sizes going from a 14 to 16 to 18 increase hp greatly on top in the twins setup?

maybe on a high rpm engine, i went with the 16 cause i didnt want to break the shaft on the 40 with nitrous and to keep my drive press more of a 1 to 1 ratio... i think it also helps with egt reduction

I have both a 40 and a 3B, actually I have a slight array of turbos now and I doubt I would build a 40/3B setup other than to sell it.

Brad, why not build a set with your 62 and a 3B... ... . much better top turbo! You may get to see me do this later this year, but not for my 98'

I just wanted to try some turbos that didn't cost an arm and a leg. . I sold the 62 I've been running for a couple years because someone offered me better money than I expected for it. . If I have problems with the 40, I'll replace it with something else. . RC seems to have good luck with his, and is in the hp range I'd like to be on diesel only. . As soon as I get results, I'll post the times. .

I ran one on top for years only beat the thrust bearing out of one but it was my fault for running around with it shut in valet mode. Those were $900 dealers cost (pricing that I don't have any more) so I look at what a 40 costs and what i can get a 62 for and they don't compare.

I've got a couple of projects that I could build: 35/3B, 40/3B, SPS 62/3B and the final is Ball Bearing 66 and 88 Twin setup! There all just real low on the priority scale.

I WAS LOOKING AT A RATHER LARGE TURBO ON A CUMMINS QSK45, ITS A 45. 1 LITRE 12 CYLINDER WITH TWIN HX-82 TURBOS, WE JUST GOT DONE REPLACING BOTH ENGINES AND PUMP DRIVES IN A HITACHI EX-5500 SHOVEL, I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD GET THAT THING TO LIGHT IN A TWIN TURBO SET UP WITH THE SILVER BULLET 66 ON TOP, IN A SLED PULLING TRUCK THAT RUNS THE P-7100 PUMP, THE 62/3B SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD STREET SET UP...

An 82 would work fine as a bottom turbo. Big air out of that puppy and should work great with a Bullet and enough fuel but I would do a divorced gate with it. It would be a pain in the butt to mount though!
