Any recommendations on aftermarket LED fog lights for a 3rd generation? Are there any better than the OEM fog lights, or should I just stick with OEM? The new truck doesn't have any, but I can switch them with my other truck that does.

I've been running these on my '09 for 3 years now: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Z-OFFROAD+2pcs+63W+LED+Fog+Lights+Lamps+Replacement+for+2002-2008+Dodge+Ram+1500+2003-2009+Ram+2500+3500+2004-2006+Durango+Truck,+Driver+and+Passenger

Cutoff is very distinct and light output off to the sides is excellent! They are very bright, and with proper aiming, I'm able to see much better than with the pathetic stock halogens without blinding everyone.

Edit: I was able to post a link to a Google search, but not directly to Amazon for some reason.

Not sure what's going on, but I'm not able to post a link. Search Amazon for:

Plenty of better options out there, im using a Hella black magic set that I wired up to the OEM switch. Great light output. I'll post a picture of my setup later.

I've also used the Z-Offroad set, great drop in lights, lots of replicas/companies (Chinese mfg.) I did have an issue with moisture getting inside the housing. I would recommend running a small bead of weather rated silicone around the lens to housing seem to help keep it out.

I use the fog lights as my primary driving lights at night just because the OEM headlight housings have not aged well with the gains in lighting technology. A projector set starts getting really pricy fast. Fog lights were a cheaper option.

I bought the factory kit with the Hella lamps, installed the new light switch, bought the factory cross over (L-R) harness, and have always been disappointed in them. Considering the new AlphaRex LED Projector Fog Lights For 02-08 Dodge Ram 1500/03-09 Ram 2500/3500/04-06 Durango -DoubleTap Dual Color. These are just the lights with proper mounting brackets. No plastic bezel, you wlll have to swap that over from the other truck or buy it separately.

Pics of my setup below, and here is a link to a write up post I did asking for some help about the wiring and Install. Everything still works as it should. If need be I can walk you through wiring to the OE harness since its still fresh on my mind and I can get pictures of how I did it.

Amazon links on this board. Delete the https://www. which precedes the link, it will then work. Second, look thru the link and find the /ref... which is usually not too far from the beginning of the link. Put the cursor on the slash or the r in ref and press and hold the delete key till everything to the right of the cursor is gone. (this was one of the longest Amazon links I have ever seen!). Its OK to leave the slash but the ref and everything behind it should be deleted. Don't get into anything before the slash. Once you are through deleting, Hit enter and the page reloads with the shorter link. Then copy and paste that into the link box and stop and wipe out the https://www. as I noted, be sure and delete the period preceding the A in Amazon.

I have been looking a bot at aftermarket LED lighting for my Jeep KJ.
IMO, the problem with inexpensive made in China aftermarket lighting is that it is cheap for a reason.

If the optics are decent, instead of just blinding, then the housing might leak, if he housing doesnt leak, then likely the LED's will die soon enough.

I like the USA designed and manufactured LED lights by Diode Dynamics.

While they are more expensive then the "Ofrode", "Z-bitsky" or "Nidaylitez" :D type brands available on Amazon, they are not exorbitant for what you get and the quality of both the optics design and LEDs is stellar and covered by an 8 year warranty.

Just sayin'

That said, I'm sure that I have a pair of used OEM fog lights that I took off my 2005 when I replaced them with some Warn dual beam units. The Mopar fog lights are much better then the TYC or Depo aftermarket brands places like Rockauto sell.

If you're interested, and if I can find them, Id make you a fair deal on them.
PM me if you have questions.

Thanks! I have the old ones on my 2003. I think one has one of the plastic ears broken off from the wreck, but can probably be fixed with a piece of sheet metal pop riveted to it. Nothing you'd see from outside.

I am using LED fog lights from Xtreme LED PRO. I installed them in 2019 and have had no issues what so ever. At the same time, I also installed LED headlights from Lumawerx.

Are the Xtreme LED PRO the whole light assembly, or just replacement bulbs for the stock lights?

The Xtreme fog lights are just bulbs and the drivers to fool the CAN BUS system on the 2008 trucks. Otherwise the system thinks there is a lamp out.

I put the OEM replacements Genos sells in my Ranch Hand summit bumper, my old ones were full of water. The Fog Zilla harness allows for much brighter bulbs. After a few years they still look new and are very bright IMO. I ran 35 watt HIDs in the OEM housings in the past but they were way too bright to me and almost useless on the road, too much scatter. The Fog Zillas are bright with the silverstar bulbs, but I can use them while driving on dark two lanes without getting flashed constantly...
