I have found a good source in identifying the differences with the 1st design and 2nd design steering setups on our 3rd gen trucks. It's a MOOG webpage here. . Very handy with their part numbers and diagrams.

The article describes the 2nd design as the 2009. :-{} I wouldn't be too proud of that. Mine has had 3 recalls on the steering. The last one maybe a month old. So, it has all new tie rod ends. It also has new Carli ball joints. It still requires too much attention to keep between the lines.
