Just returned from Ocean and 3rd tow. Got stuck in a traffic mess Friday night in Tacoma. Went 5 miles in little over a hour. This was first test of Banks Gauges. I have two transmission senders and on temp gauge. While slowly crawing up the hill on I5 in Tacoma, outlet temp went to 225 degree's and right rear test port to 175 degree's. I could cool transmission down by putting in N and increasing RPM's for a minute or two and then we would move another 50 feet.
Anyway still go about 10. 6 MPG on a 312 mile trip. 5er is 9K.
Max boost is at about 19 lbs with stock ETC and K&N. Truck is pulling better all the time. Now have 2K+ on the Odometer.
I run about 63MPH at 2000-2100 RPM with the 4:10's, and pull most of the freeway hills in OD. If one had 3. 56's you would have to be out of OD most of the time if towing. I can still pull hills at over 60 in 3rd and transmission temps stay way down at 140-160 outlet degree's when the TC is locked up in 3rd or OD. I do not pull hard below 1,800RPM's, I shift down and wind it up if I get caught down there on a hill.
We also had very slow traffic on the return trip between Lacy and South Tacoma, so I think I would have gotten 11. 5 MPG or better on the return if traffic was not such a mess.
Got to say I love this new truck. Snow King
