4.10 Rear End Swap Questions

Hey guys... the truck I just bought is a 2003 3500 4x4 Quad Cab short bed SO/250hp with the 4. 10 rear end. I am considering swapping the rear end out for a 3. 73 (for better mileage). Can I swap with ANY 3rd gen 4x4 or does it also have to be a 3500 and a 2003?

Where it is a 3500 it should have the 11. 5" rear end, some of the 2500s with the SO engine had the 10. 5" rear. All that matters is 11. 5" or 10. 5". By the way doubt you will see any significant change in mileage.
