Mike,

Does the Orange County group of TDR members get together very often and do mods/shoot the bull? If you get that hole saw I would drive down and 1/ Watch you drill your truck and 2/ Get the courage to drill mine. I would love a Psychotty system!!

Thanks, Mark in San Dimas, Ca. #ad

Mark;

Find a crazed carpenter with a Sawzall® and a fine tooth blade. Probably cut that hole faster than the circular type.

<em>Just don't be disappointed if the hole is not circular. My saw has a bit of trouble holding the line..... <em>

Cheers;

John,I thought of using a sawzall,there's not enough room and I think the curve is too sharp for a sawzall blade,it will keep bucking out of the cut and make a mess. If you can't find a hole saw the next best thing is a plasma cutter. I used the hole saw from Alaska Bee(where did that one go?)it took about 30 seconds for a nice clean hole. The Psychotty is well worth the hole,excellent product.

I am only going to keep the saw long enough to cut the hole. I should get it by Thursday. I'll order the filter later. Any tips on cutting the hole? It looks like Mike Vonada (sp) was next in line so if he wants it I'll send it to him. Tom

Tom,tips for the holesaw. Check that the 1/4" bit extends just a little past the cutting edge of the saw,you can adjust it by loosening the screw on the arbor. Remove the arbor,fold back the insulation on your firewall enough for the hole,don't cut it off so if you want to remove the Psy. you can cover the hole. Put the hole saw in position so it's only drilling thru 1 layer of metal,you can then screw the arbor in and it will make a mark at the center of the hole,you may want to twist it back and forth to make a good mark. When using a holesaw I always drill the 1/4"pilot hole first,if you don't when the pilot drill pops thru the holesaw will come down hard and bind,if your drill is strong enough it will twist the drill out of your hand. When cutting the big hole apply gentle pressure,it will feed itself. After the hole is cut use a deburing tool or a round file to remove the sharp edge. I used touchup paint on the cut edge to prevent rust. You're ready for your Psychotty!

One of the most common mistakes made by almost everyone when using a drill is trying to drill too fast. The RPM's on the drill should be kept low enough to "cut" metal off. Drilling too fast with no cutting fluid ruins more bits and more holes than anything.
These large-bore hole saws should turn in the 75 to 80 RPM range while applying medium pressure.
Good luck... ..... John

Got the saw this afternoon. Had the hole cut in less than 30 minutes, no problem. I'm ready to forward the saw. Willieslover is next in line but he hasn't responded to my request for his address so far. I have another request from Forrest in Reno but I'll give Willieslover another day of so.

I think I'll cut some holes in the airbox and put a hose to the firewall to see how it works. I have a K&N filter. Do you think the Pscotty would be a big improvement over this setup?

The hose deal will bring your EGTs down,but don't drill a 4 1/2 hole in your airbox,it will be into the clean side of the filter. 3" is about the biggest you can go.

Sorry. . I decided to spend a few days in the hospital. . monday thru friday noon
I'm out now. . replied to E mail. . Forrest I'll get it to you asap after I receive it
