As of a couple months ago there was NOTHING available aftermarket for our model of axle, but an AAM rep said he expects some products and more gear ratios to come out within the next 1-2 years.

I'm looking to go down to at least a 3. 54 to 3. 30 range if I could, I like having a Freeway Flier :p

If you have 3. 73's, just slap on some 315 tires. That will give you an equivalent ratio of 3. 44, putting you right between 3. 54 and 3. 30 range.

Why do you want those gears? If it's from a tire size change, do any/all power upgrades you are going to do first. Power changes what gear you NEED to have.

I'm looking at the future running 37" or 38" tires with a lift. For the cost to do a gear change, I could get the TST box. It's still not good to lug the motor pulling heavy weight like my trailer. Gear change and the TST box with a transmission upgrade would be the BOMB. It's all about the $$$$$$$$$.

RAMINSPEED you might do some calculations and consider running in 5th gear when towing (which is easier on the transmission anyway). With 4. 10s and tires like that and especially 3. 73s you should be set to run in 5th gear towing.

That's one of my reasons for wanting higher gearing so I can tow in direct and then cruise empty around 75-80 at about 150-200 RPM less than now.

No plans to go to 315s on a 4x2, only 285/60/18 if I get wheels (which is same diameter as stock).

You are going to tow with 38" tires, you got to be kiddin

Vaughn, I'm Running an automatic (unfortunately) and only have 4 gears. 3rd is 1:1 ratio if I'm not mistaken.

Mopar_Mudder, It's not impossible to tow with 38's just not as recommended. :( If I go with 38's they will be on either 18 or 20" wheels and have a high capacity ratting. They will probably wear extra fast and my breaking will suck. Unfortunately, thats the price you pay for big tires. For towing, it's probably best to just leave the trucks suspension and tires alone (unless you want rickson wheels). But I just can't leave it stock. :D

Good luck to ya, you will never pull a goosneck or fifth wheel. And will need a huge drop hitch for any kind of bumper pull. I know all about big tires, run 39. 5 Boggers and 38. 5 TSL/SX's. While they can be driven every day, and I did for awhile, but I sure don't miss it. And I would never think of pulling much more then a snowmobile type trailer with it.
