anyone done this swap yet? Eaton transmission in a dodge ?

Going Dually

This is not anything that will happen soon but I want to start looking into doing it. I have a 95 QC 5SP (NV-3500) V-8 4WD Dakota and want to investigate putting a new 4cyl Cummins in her. The gasser is getting tired and we really love the truck, it has 170,000 and we bought it with 15 in 1995. Any suggestions or experience will be appreciated. TIA

dakota conversion

there was a thread on this awhile back. danged if i can find it with search. nothing new, i generally can't find anything using the search. it's either useless, or i haven't learned how to use it. :(

I JUST PUT A 4BT IN MY '91 JEEP WRANGLER. IT'S WAY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL 4. 0! THE JEEP DRIVES SO MUCH NICER WITH ALL THE TORQUE OF THE CUMMINS. SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST THING YOU COULD DO FOR THE DAKOTA!

4at in dakota

someone has already done it. there's a thread complete with pix. i followed the thread... ... considering it for the future for my '89 convertible... ... . some day... ... .

Being a lousy mechanic, I wrote Dodge an email, asking that they offer the Dakota with a 4 cyl diesel. The combination of torque and high mileage would make for a very desireable truck.

i too am looking into a 4-cyl diesel in a dakota , i recieved this reply from the diesel depot , very interesting:

"Hello and thanks for the inquiry. We sell complete cut-out 4cyl Cummins engines with a sm465 (non-OD) trans for $2750 plus freight. The engine will be complete with fuel system, turbo, exhaust down pipe, alternator, starter, power steering pump, engine mounts, adapter plate, clutch & press plate, flywheel, and transmission etc... . The used engines carry a 90 day parts

warranty. I hope this information has bben helpful, but if you have other questions please feel free to ask and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. I look forward to helping you. Also, if you'll give me your address I'll get a shipping rate quote for you.

Thanks,

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

missing Diesel Dakota thread

Hello everyone!

After lurking for a few months, I thought now would be a good time for my first posting.

For those of you looking for the thread about that Dakota diesel repower, it's in the Dodge Trucks Usenet discussion forum.

Go to www.deja.com and do a search with the phrase "4bt dakota". The thread your looking for should be the first search result. Hope this helps... ...

dakota diesel

i just went back and reread the entire thread. i see i said the same thing back in 10/01. guess it's good to know that i still think the same way. i think the little convertible would be pretty  with a 4BT in it.....

I've spread the news on this. . that guy that did the dakota conversion got it from a yard in WI. I have the info, just not w/me right now. . I'll post it later.

I called them and they have 4bt w/th400s for ~$1700 and tons of 19. 5" wheels for ~$60 ea.

Later,

Mark

Only thing I don't like... . Non-intercooled.

Other than that... it's a job well done... very clean install.

What do these little 4BT's make for power (BOMBed)?

Matt

well crappola,,,,here I am posting on the general board about wishing i could find a diesel small enough to put in my Jeep, and here it is right in front of me on this page... .

I didn't know Cummings made a diesel that small (of course the things I don't know could fill a... . you finish the remark ;)),

anyone have full specs on this engine and what trannies, etc. will mount to it,,,my mouth is watering,,,,I can just here my Scrambler chugging away now, also Sclements, Please post some info on your Jeep swap, I am very very interested.

thanks,

To jeep swap info

I have a 4bt in my chevy 84,There is an adapter that will bolt a standard bellhousing to use and GM std trans or you can mate a th400 auto. This swap has been done to toyota landcruisers so the jeep should not be a problem. A 3" body lift would help. Power steering is driven off the front gear box, no belt. Basic dimentions 23 wide,36 tall, 30 long. I can e-mail photos that may help with the layout.

yes, plesae do email the photos, i would appreciate it alot. .
