4 Cyl Cummins, Where to find

I am interested in finding a 4 cylinder Cummins motor/possible driveline. What vehicles did they come in or what vehicles were they installed in, so I know where to look for them.

I saw one in a Jeep one time in Indy, sharp set-up, was looking for another project to do. Do they call it the 4BT, or what is the motor designation? TIA.

look for bread & chip delivery trucks [wonder bread, frito lays... ]

i think the ones in those trucks had turbo 400 gm transmissions behind them

Now that's the way a Jeep ought to come from the factory. Tight fit. I noticed the turbo has touched the hood insulation.

I just noticed where the air intake is. I wouldn't want to be fording streams with that setup.

that one looks too nice and clean to go play in the mud and water. .

Am thinking about putting a new engine in the sailboat. It came with an inline 4 and 156 cid. 60 horse power is all it puts out and only uses a little less than a liter per hour. A 4 cylinder cummins would appear to be perfect.

WD, you do realize that a 4bt weighs about 900 lbs? I hope you like ballast! :-laf

I read where the 6bt weighs 904 lbs.

Yup I read the same thing too. A 4BT weighed in around 500 or 550lbs and a 6bt weighed in at around 1,000lbs. I'm looking for one for my Scout still... ... ..... Anyone want to trade a GPS Chartplotter/fishfinder for a 4bt they have sitting around collecting dust?:-laf:-laf

Not sure. Haisely Machine might know. There is a sticker on the firewall.

I can guaranty that the Westerbink engine which they bought from British Leyland and just renamed Westerbink weighs all of that. The only thing I would be worried about is the horse power. It doesn't need to be more than 90 hp. Any more would be way to much.
