Hi, i just put my new RIP 4" exhaust system on this weekend i called and talked to Rip on saterday and he helped me out on some questions i had :) I had every thing on loose so i started at the front at the downpipe and for some reasone it wants stay closer to the trany. I was trying to center it between the frame and the trany I loosend the two bolt as much as i could with out them coming out and used a strap wrench but it wouldn,t go any further i have about a quarter of an inch clearance from the bell housing is that to close or is that ok?. It was to late to call Ripp and there probly closed till Tuesday . By the way this thing sounds and feels like another truck now  it sounds good and there is no drone . I also had to scoot my spare tire over a little for clearance. Thanks for reading my long post :D

Oh yea, It sounds like an 18 wheeler now at idle it purrs like a stock truck but when you get on it you know theres some thing different there  It fells like my truck is shifting faster than before also. Im looking into a heatsheald or wrap for the down tube. On jegs.com they have a clamp on heat sheald that looks pretty good its 6 inches wide but im not sure if the clamps will be long enough for the 4 " . I figure it wouldn,t hurt to have a heat sheald between the exhaust and trany plus for the spare tire area.

My buddy put Rips system on a couple of weekends ago on a 2002. He never mentioned any clearence problems with the transmission but had to move the spare over. When he gets home today from camping I'll call & ask him.

Well he said that the bolt on the pipe that goes into the hanger off the transfer case maybe the problem. His fit fine, but if that bolt that is welded on the pipe is a little off, that could bring it closer to the transmission. Can that hanger be moved any? Any adjustment to that one hanger may give you a little more clearence. I know Rip told me the last time I saw him That some guys have problems with the install & others claim they did it in 1 1/2 hrs & Rip want's to put those guys on the pay roll.

Good Luck

I'm sure Rip or Robert will be in Tuesday.

Four hands goin crazy. . Hack and slash on the old exhaust! New install went beautifully. Air tools are a wonderful thing! When the exhaust assembles like a well fit glove, anyone can look like a hero!

Yeah,I picked the wrong day to put my system on . For one thing it was around 100 degres out on saterday and after i cut my old system off i noticed we had a fire on the other side of the hill from me. I got back to working on it not thinking to much about the fire because i had to get this back together . The fire eventialy worked its way over the the hill as im under my truck adjusting everything thats when i started hearing the planes fly over  . They were coming to fight the fire now i know its bad they were flying low right over are houses . so i adjusted it as good as i could and went inside and cleaned up . By then it was down to the botom of my side of the hill being a mile or two away i felt a little nervous but those Fire fighters did a out standing job stoping it before it could get any worst . They atacked it with every thing they had planes trucks and a helicopter no homes were lost its amazing . My hat goes off to them well done :D

I installed a 4" turbo back system from RPM outlet. It came with a free 5" stainless tip. Fit together well and I really liked the two piece tail pipe. It let me adjust it just right. I did have to trim the piece that goes over the axle (where it goes into the muffler) to get it to fit around the spare tire. The system looks good and sounds great with no drone. At 299. 00 you can't go wrong.

Rips 4" system for the third gen's fits like a glove and sounds awesome too. You're right Clay, at that price you can't go wrong.
