The 4" exhaust elbow for the 04. 5 and 05's is available separately through Mopar. The part number is 5161570AA and is the same as Holset/Cummins part number 4035834. List price is $48. 85, which is significantly less than the $467. 00 list price for the 3. 5" outlet on the 03-04 trucks.

good info, thanks for the research. i just bought an 03. how can this part help me??? i was reading that banks has a true 4 inch downpipe that bolts on to the manifold and does away with the elbow. this sounds like a good start to my homebrew exhaust system. anyone know the part number and price offhand. looked on the banks site but couldn't find anything. thanks in advance.

tomeygun,

The 05 4" elbow bolts up to our 03 stock turbo's??????

Sure does, But you will need a new downpipe, etc ---The outlet on the turbos are all the same, as far as I know... I had to index mine alittle to get a good fit

I'll be building up my homemade 4" exhaust as soon as all the parts are gathered up. I'm trying to decide on either the 51" or 40" Donaldson muffler, and an Aeroturbine. This benefits us '03 and early '04 guys by increasing the exhaust system size from 3. 5" to 4".

That looks like a pretty good price for the elbow for the 04. 5, but what about the down pipe to connect to it for those adapting to an 03-04? It seems that by the time you buy the elbow and a new down pipe, you could have gotten a Banks down pipe and had one piece to install. Also the Banks down pipe is smooth inside which helps the exhaust to flow through the elbow. We have tried smoothing the stock elbow using a flapper wheel and have found noticeable improvements, just by smoothing the elbows interior surface.

Well as far as cost, I call a few pacbrake dealers to get mine, and got it for about $25, and then I got the downpipe from my dept. for $57

The banks I think is about $189 -- but it is alot easier i think, I might still get the banks DP

I'm avoiding the Banks downpipe simply beacause I plan on adding a Pacbrake as soon as there is enough cash in the checking account.
