I'm still new to this bomb'n so bear with me... With the DD TTPM and with DD stage II injectors, is 4" exhaust a necessity?? Would the pyro instantly go through the roof pulling a grade. Perhaps the TTPM and stage I would be a better combination... The 4" could always be added at a later time.

I'm trying to really improve towing (approx. 7 to 9k trailers).

Thanks, Paul...

no problem with stock exhaust...

I'm running an EZ and DD2s and have had absolutely no EGT problems with a stock exhaust (less muffler). I think the highest reading I've seen is about 1200* pulling an 8k trailer uphill. I'm also running a BHAF to help keep things cool. I'll probably put a 4" exhaust in this spring for the sound and additional cooling benefits tho.

Each truck responds a little differently. I see you live in NV and more than likely will be towing in the mountains? If so you might have some problems with EGT's but with a manual transmission you could always pull down another gear to keep you out of trouble. If the temps get too high then start on better air flow into the engine and if still problems a free flowing 4" or eliminate muffler on your stock 3" exhaust.

What ever you do gauges should be first, EGT, boost, and fuel pressure (auto transmission should have transmission temp gauge). Any time you add more fuel (injectors, box) you need more air to burn it and help keep EGT's down, you will have to disable the waste gate.

If it was me with the manual transmission truck liveing where you do I would go for the stage II injectors and just disable the wastegate, you should have plenty of power, if you still don't have enough power than I would get the comp box (only a few more bucks than the EZ) and you can adjust the fueling to your needs, be it EGT's or power, or a combination of both.

Hope this helps,

Ron

I agree with Steve, it should be fine. You may have to back out a tad in really hot weather, but overall EGT should be well in check. I run a VA and DD3's, no EGT troulble whatsoever with stock air induction and stock exhuast minus muffler.

Ron brings up a good point on the gauges, fuel pressure and EGT are mandatory IMO.
