In Baldknob, AR, filled up with fuel about 20 miles south of here, on 167 heading north through Baldknob when I smelled diesel fuel. Found the #4 injector line spraying fuel out between the line and nut on #4 injector. About 210,000 miles on the truck with no problems like this. Injectors were replaced about 100,000 miles ago so no recent servicing of the lines. Took the line off the truck, with no visible signs of any problem due to scratches, gouges, ect. Tried reinstalling it several times, got towed to a campground here in town. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Since you didn't tell us what truck you have and there is no info in your signature, I'm guessing you have a HPCR truck since this is a well known and common issue. Several threads on here about this common problem:

https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/237487-Split-Fuel-Line

I do commend you on properly identifying it as #4 since most see it as the next to the last one on the side of the rail or next to the last injector on the side of the head and call it #5.

3rd generation truck #4 injection line is Cumins part #5289447 and Mopar part # 05086874AC

But like others have said, do NOT go to a Dodge dealer unless absolutely necessary as you proabl;y have to pay $100 vs $28 at Cummins.

If no access to Cummins or Dodge, call Genos garage tomorrow…they have the upgraded #4 line (new mounting clamp means less likely to crack)
also ofr $28 plus shipping/.

If you are really in a bind and need to get out of there you can try this. If you have a hammer and something solid, bend the line back over itself near the injector end and smash it as hard as you can (the lines are thick and very tough) to make a crimp. This will make a temporary cap off tool to get you home or to a place that has a line. Or if you can find someone with a welder, plug the line that way.
You might get lucky and the Cummins dealer in Little Rock has a line, or a cap off tool. 501-569-5600
