Does anyone know if the front drive shaft needs to be lengthened on a 4" lift? Any thing else to be aware of?

on my 2nd gen 24v there was no prob with the driveshafts--rear one needs a spacer at the carrier bearing thoug about 1" if I remember right--front one no probs--not sure this will help because of the different years of our trucks, but i thought I'd let you know anyway----chris

I have a 2" lift on mine and am using the stock length front drive shaft. I did upgrade the ujoint on the axle to the next larger size and used a yoke that uses the "U" bolts to hold it in rather than the straps. At full drop the front ujoint is binding a little bit, but a little bit of grinding will take care if that. With the stock ujoint up front I had constant problems with the straps coming loose and I would have to replace the ujoint at least once a year. After the change I only recently had to replace the ujoint for the first time, after about 6 years of use.

I have the 2. 5 inch lift on my 93 and the drive shaft is no problem. Check and make sure the CV joint is not maxed out though. I have had to grind out the stops on the CV on my 75 dodge, or else the driveshaft limits the travel of the suspension, using the transfer case as droop limiter.

The steering wheel will prolly be off, unless you use a drop pitman arm. I would look into a cross over steering setup thou. I use it on my 75 dodge, and love it. Oh its got a locker up front and I 4 wheel it, still steer it with one finger off road.

Just check out the travel on stuff when installing the lift. And go and flex the truck up in a road ditch to check for signs of binding, rubbing, hitting components.
