Just a quick note for all you DIYers. Walker now has a 4" mandrel bend tailpipe thats affordable. P/N 54 150, Application is '94 to '00 Dodge P/Us w/ diesel. Mine, with my shop discount, was only $39. 99. Something to think about.

Thanks for the info!!!!! I have been looking for a 4" system that is affordable. I need to put a muffler back on the truck, and I didnt want to go with a 3" It would be nice if I could find a 4" downpipe that is inexpensive. Let me know how you like the pipe once you get it on.

Thanks for the tip.

I did some checking on this. Becasue the part is rather new most shops may tell you it is unavailable. After convincing 2 shops that it was the right part number and that it was available they had to make a few calls to get me a price.

One shop was $62 plus shipping becasue it was a special order. The other shop was $52 an no shipping.

Thanks again for the tip Jones.

Can you post any pics? I currently have a Jardine 4" exhaust system and I'm happy with it except for one thing: The tailpipe exit looks goofy. It has a long straight section from the last bend over the axle and it exits near the right rear corner of the truck. Kinda looks like it's not finished yet. I like the exits of other systems much better. I would really like to replace the last section of tailpipe with something that looks good--maybe top it off with the five inch tip. The price you list is great, if the quality and looks are ok.

Hey guys,
Sorry Ross, no pictures but I can tell you that it looks just like the stock tailpipe only in 4". Stops a little short, about as much as you would trim off to put a chrome tip on so for chrome or 5" tips its pretty much a case of "position it and weld it on"
Not sure if there's a 4"headpipe 'cause the description in Walker's book says CATback. I'm pretty much stuck with 3" 'til I get past the x-member because of clearances so what I ended up doing was to get that odd little resonator off a '98. It's 3" in and 4" out and the 4"tailpipe plugged right into it. Because I'm running this in a Ramcharger I had to tweek the pipe a little to get around the rear mounted fuel tank but for you guys with pick-ups, it should fit right in. As to how it sounds; at idle its slightly deeper toned than stock, going down the road normal conversation is still possible. When I get on it it definately comes alive but doen't have that annoying nasal rattle that some after-market set-ups seem to have. Even at that its not deafening, just throaty. My personal opinion, its a keeper.
Happy motoring, Jones

Does it come with the hangers welded on already or do you have to cut off and reuse the existing ones?

Hey Bill,
Its just a bare pipe, no hangers. I'm using the stock rubber with two holes hanger set-up so I just took some strap stock, punched a bolt hole in one end then welded it to the pipe where it contacted then tapped the end around the pipe to form a "J" welding each side of the strap as I went. Worked out better than if I'd tryed to salvage the old straps. On the rod type hangers it still works the same 'cause the hole in the rubber doesn't cars if its carrying a bolt or the bullet end of the rod. If you use the flat strap you can even tack weld a nut to the back side of the bolt hole for ease of assembly and the "factory look".

Ross,

My 4" cat back system was installed by the factory & exited in the same place, only lower. Real fuguly with the long hanger. #ad
The muffler shop had a bunch of different 4" mandrel bent pieces in various degrees. I had them add a 45 degree piece just behind the axle so that it exits right next to the trailer hitch. Yours would probably take a bit different degreed piece.

They can raise or lower the exit position any way you like it by cutting a slot across the top of the pipe, just behind the muffler. This will allow them to raise or lower the tailpipe to youre liking. #ad
It lowers the exhaust sound in the cab. #ad
