Well, we just finished killing 4 more KDPs thanks to Bob's jig and kit.

We did a 90,91,92,and a 93.

None of the pins had moved.

Started at 7:30 and finished at about 12:30. Not too bad for a bunch of rookies I guess.

Hardest part of the job, believe it or not, was getting the darn belts back on!! Seemed like that was a project on all the trucks!

(And , heh, heh, we did some pump tweakin' too!)

:D

I missed the pump tweaking  )(&*(&%*^%*&(*

Well, there's always next time :D :D :D

Glad to see that the KDP's have been put to rest.

I had the pleasure of being part of the party with my 93. Much thanks to Jay for additional tweeking on my pump. Gained an additional 5# boost WOT and much stronger low end with 90deg CW fuel rate pin adjustment and 180deg CW star wheel tweek. Oo.

She picked up a little black smoke puff on initial acceleration but not bad. Maybe I can backoff on the aneroid a bit?

We also learned that fan shrouds do not go in very well upside down. :D

Was a good day:) :)

Again, thank you Jay Leonard & Bob Beauchaine!

Thanks, Jay, for hosting this event. It was a great place to work.

And thanks to Bob for sending the kit.

I'm much relieved to know the old gray mule is jigged.

I'm sending the pictures to Jay so he can decide which ones to post.

It was great working with you guys, had alot of fun. Thought I was happy with stock truck all these years, but now I have start playing do to curiosity. Thanks for hosting Jay, by the way I do feel a difference now, guess I needed to be on my hills to feel the difference. I contacted the Bushwacker for a little advice, if you know what I mean. Take care, Bill.

Did anyone ever decide, are the jigs different for the 1st gen. ?

I'm not sure on this but I think there may be 3 jig designs available:

1. 1st/2nd Gen Combo, that aligns a setscrew perpendicular to and in front of the KDP.

2. 1st Gen jig that drills on an angle towards the back of the KDP.

3. 2nd Gen jig similar to the 1st Gen but drills on different angle to accomplish the same results because the location of the KDP is slightly different on the 2nd Gen.

Again, someone who really knows should confirm this as true or not!

I'm curious about this too. Anyone?

Jay Leonard has taken on the task of comparing (via CAD analysis, apparently), the first and second gen jigs.

That's going to take a bit of doing, so give him a little time to do it right.

:p

Thanks DBF.

I hope to have something by the end of next week.

The angled 1st gen jig worked great, but was really difficult to lay out.

It is basically a round slug with a bushing hole welded to flat plate on a compound angle. It will be somewhat difficult to make,(IMHO) but it is do-able.

The goal is to try to use CAD to see how different this is from the 2nd gen jig that drills perpendicular. That one is already drawn thanks to vssman who works at Torrington also.

Stay tuned and please be patient.

bflood is correct. There are at least three jigs he described. I have seen all three at one time or another. My understanding from Cubby Bowers is that First and Second Gens are different. He has done - from what I understand 50 or more fixes. He is the gentelman who made my jig.
