I have owned two second gen. trucks and have used Jardine Exhaust and have been thoroughly satisfied with both. I now have a 1st. gen that needs large diameter exhaust (no muffler) and I need some suggestions. I will install it myself and want aluminized mandrel bent pipe. Please Help! This muffler needs to go! Thanks!

Almost there!

I am still riding the fence on the whole stacks issue. I want them but am unsure of what they will look like in a first gen! Got any picks and or parts list to do it?

Stacks!

but if'n you do keep it under the truck, realize that 4-inch is way plenty. 5-inch is way cool, but will cost more and is a bigger pain and according to Joe D. , not necessary--for less than 580HP with a real big turbo.

That being said. When I upgrade my turbo, I'm going to put on 4" back to the tailpipe which will be 5"--now where can I get a polished 6" tip???:D

I'm just doing that to play with the ricer boys.

I love the sound of the four inch systems I have installed for different people. I have never heard a five inch system and if I don't do the stacks I might see what's available. I love the Jardine system because of the quality and price. Unfortunately they don't make first gen pipe!

JFitzgerald, good point on the transfer case clearance.

4" would get really tight in there. Mine goes up to 4" just in back of the transfer case. I'll try to get some pictures posted asap so you can see what 1st gen stacks look like. As far as the parts needed for a set of stacks, I paid about $400 for everything. Will post my parts list too.

Sean

PS, just read your sig and saw that you have 2wd. 4" from the downpipe back should be no problem.

Cool!

Thanks, I have a 2wd so hopefully I can go from the turbo back. Fortunately I work part time for Napa and get everything at cost or just slightly above. I have priced what I think it will take and it will be around 300. 00 with 5 inch chrome. I really would appreciate the pics and parts list so I can do this right the first time. Thanks!

Thanks!

I appreciate the info, I will check it out. Old Smokey, I registered for Pay Pal, send me therequired info and I will send you the money for a mount. Thanks!

Here goes the parts list for the stacks:

Purchased from Berubes in Bow, NH.

2ea, 4"x48" curved stacks, straight, no flare $61. 85 ($123. 70)

1ea, 4"x8" ID/OD elbow $20. 99

2ea, 4"x10" ID/OD elbow $21. 01 ($42. 02)

1ea, 4" Y-pipe $63. 90

1ea, 4"x12" stainless flex $12. 05

1ea, 4"x24" stainless flex $25. 65

8ea, 4" *preformed* Torc-Tite band clamps $7. 72 ($61. 76)

2ea, 4" chrome clamps $9. 78 ($19. 56)

4ea, 4" clamps $4. 38 (17. 52)

1ea, 3"x4" OD/OD reducer $10. 19

Other parts used that I already had from another project:

2ea, 3" band clamps ~$7. 00 ($14. 00)

1ea, 3"x24" flex ~$12. 00

Note, as far as I know all of the parts purchased from Berubes are made by Grand Rock. I used the 4" stainless flex in the bed because I can't find a shop around here that can expand 4" pipe. ***Use preformed band clamps, the other ones don't seal worth a crap and they will crush the flex pipe. *** Also, the aluminized flex tends to rust real bad, so I'll be changing that piece under the truck soon.

Cheers,

Sean

I was just discussing this with someone last week. 4" from the turbo back is being looked into. It is a real chore to get it past the T-case and crossmember on the 4X4's.

I hope to hear next week on availability and cost.

Stand by, I'll post what comes from this . .

Bob.

BushWakr,

How about the clearance between the downpipe, frame and the trans heat exhanger on the side of the engine. I was looking at mine today and that seems to be a real tight spot.

I have Rips 4" exhaust. His only down pipe option is one identical to the stock unit. About the first 3-4" of the pipe is 3," just enough to connect to the 3" down pipe. There are a few tight spots, but it fits. It's a great system.
