I was reading the interesting article in the latest TDR issue 53 about the G56 and NV5600 comparison and was wondering about the part of the proper amount of fluid to fill the G56 with.
The guys in the article say they had to remove the floor covering and the shift tower to get the 6 quarts filled and could only get 4 quarts in through the fill plug on the side. What gives? If the manual says it will hold 6 and you can ony get in 4 through the fill plug, it seems just plain stupid to remove the floor covering and shifter to top off the fluid to 6 quarts every time one changes the ATF.
Wish they went into more detail in the article, hence why I am asking. Thought it was kind of vague that they just said "oh well, we can't get 6 quarts in through the plug, so lets just remove the shift tower and top it off that way. " This was stated with no explaination as to why it would not take 6 quarts through the fill plug.
